Guidelines for this thread (by el Hombre)

* In this thread post match updates on all Canadians playing in MLS.

* If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster.

* If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here.

* Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread.

Gershon Koffie just became a domestic player. Do naturalized Canadians count?

Hmmm, I'm going to say no for now. If a time comes where he's definitely eligible to play for Canada AND it actually looks like he would if called to a match, then I'd put him on this list.

The list is Canadian for MNT purposes.

Opare and lefevre are tough to judge. Maybe more information will be revealed in a bit and we'll know for sure where they stand regarding the mnt. Until then, we can consider them not Canadian.

Anyways, I'm going to be offline for about a week, but will update the list when I'm back!

Opare played for the States. Lefevre never played for any country. As far as I know, he should count as a Canadian. He`s like Tissot in my eyes because they`re both uncapped Canadians.

Well except that Lefevre is from France, and moved here at age 13 or 14. Still I think he'd be likely to be a part of Team Canada soccer. Someone should ask him, and we'll judge based on that. When I looked into Opare for the other thread, he still said he wouldn't count out a few teams.

Wow that is really crappy/undisciplined to get suspended in a pre-season game though admittedly I have not seen any video of it to judge whether the suspension is deserved. On the bright side, DeRo's absence might make it a little bit easier for Porter to get some early season playing time and hopefully establish himself as a starter or significant minutes substitute on the team. DeRo is a pencilled in starter for DCU so he can afford to sit out a few games and hopefully that will benefit our other Canadian.

I don't think we have to worry about France calling up Lefevre. I'd say he's ours if we want him

Kind of like a Jono de Guzman situation in reverse, though if Lefevre has lived here full time since a young teen, rather than just during the playing season, I'd say we have an even more legit claim to this guy.

FWIW, I tracking a percentage of minutes played by Canadians stat for FC Edmonton and the MLS teams. Should I be calling this guy Canadian?

"Ante Jazic continues to be on the official roster, but he was not included in the list of players released by the club during the media day hubbub. He is the only question mark heading into the season, but the signs look pretty clear that he's not going to be a part of Chivas USA in 2013."
