Most promising Academy/Residency players

Right now my vote still goes to Brody Huitema of Vancouver Whitecaps U-18. The guy has been a goal scoring machine since he was 13, crushed it at U-18 last year, and already has 3 goals in 2 games this year.

19 goals in 16 USSDA U-18 games, including three this past weekend against the Galaxy and Chivas academies. Big, talented, can hold the ball up, can strike it venomously, and just keeps raising his game at higher and higher levels. I'm inclined to agree with your praise. He's one of those guys which has people mumbling sadly that he's too good to take a $44,000 MLS contract.

How much can HG players get paid?

Anything the club wants to offer. But to stay "off-budget" the maximum salary in 2012 was $44,000. Unless the player signs a Generation Adidas contract. The club can have up to two HG players at a time on these contracts. They can pay them more than $44k, and they remain off budget.

Brody is reportedly a very good student. I don't think his decision to go to US college is football related.

I don't follow enough all of the academies to have a good judgment over this but I've always thought Maxime Crépeau had great potential.

He's been really spectacular the few times I've seen him play with the Académie.

Hasn't done as good with national teams but hopefully that will change soon.

Top Drawer Soccer has always been very positive on Huitema.

Huitema gets his 26th goal of the season. Stats aren't fully in yet. Huitema currently leads the USSDA nationwide in goals. That's all teams all divisions. Some teams have a couple games left to play, but he is basically guaranteed top 3 in the nation, and probably will finish as the nation's top scorer. He's committed to Duke University.

Note: He missed a few games in March/April due to a wrist injury that was thought (at the time) would keep him out for the rest of the season. In terms of goals per game he is way ahead of the competition. Click the link above.
