Anyone else watch this tournament?

If so what are your thoughts?

I think Nigerian striker Emanual Emineke of Spartak Moscow will be getting a transfer out of this, after winning the top scoring award (without even playing in the final). Some English clubs are reportedly interested in him and he has a good scoring record in the Russian top flight (18 goals in 37 games). He is still young too, only 25.

In fact, Nigeria's ACON accomplishments are more impressive when you consider the young squad they called. Look at all the players 25 and under....

Strikers:

Victor Moses, 22 years old (Chelsea)

Ahmed Musa, 20 years old (CSKA)

Emanual Emineke, 25 years old (Spartak Moscow)

Ideye Brown, 24 years old (Dynamo Kiev)

Midfielders:

John Obi Mikel, 25 years old (Chelsea)

Nosa Igiebor, 22 years old (Real Betis)

Ogenyi Onazi, 20 years old (Lazio)

Fegor Ogude, 25 years old (Valerenga)

Nwankwo Obiora, 21 years old (CFR Cluj) - on loan from Inter Milan

Defenders:

Efe Ambrose, 24 years old (Celtic)

Uwa Elderson, 24 years old (Braga)

Kenneth Omeruo, 19 years old (ADO den haag) - on loan from Chelsea

Juwon Oshaniwa, 22 years old (Ashod)

Wow...that is impressive if you ask me (and doesn't include the local players who impressed in the tourny - Sunday Mba scored the winner against Ivory Coast and the goal to win the cup). Looking at the age of those guys and where they play, it is really a testiment to the talent and depth Nigeria have at their disposal. It should be noted that all play with the first teams at those clubs.

Ivory Coast is old and Cameroon cannot seem to get their **** together. Egypt (under bob bradley) do not seem to be making strides. The only other team with a comparable number of young players at big clubs is Ghana. So I expect these two countries to really take a hold of African football for the next 4 or 5 years.
