-DDR on playing for the MNT: http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/2013/01/27/dwayne_de_rosario_canada/

“It’s easy for me to listen to a lot of people who tell me I should retire from the national team and focus on my club career. But again, it’s those people who drive me on to keep playing (for Canada). It’s worth putting my body at risk because it’s the highest honour, to represent your country,” he said.

Simply put, quitting the national team at this point in his career is not an option for De Rosario, who feels he has a duty to try to inspire children across Canada to take up the game.

“If nobody sets the example, these young kids, the next generation, they’ll never understand what it takes to represent your country and what it truly means. I’m trying to hold onto that,” De Rosario admitted.

“It’s an honour and it’s a blessing, and a lot of kids in Canada don’t have the opportunities that I’ve had. That’s why I continue to play, for all those kids.”

It’s not just the next generation of Canadian national team players who De Rosario is trying to reach. It’s the current crop of players, too.

Man...deRo doesn't get enough accolades for his Canadian pride. I wonder what kind of a coach he would make in the future.

Regarding Lars, it is unfortunate, but I am hoping that Thomas and Stillio can split the match and both get some experience.

Good show for the CSA looking for more friendlies in March. I wonder what Qatar are up to?

I was a little pissed with him after his cheque signing antics at TFC but I gained a new respect for the man when in Havana, we were waiting in front of the team hotel sorting out tickets and he, and a few others took the time to board the bus full of Voyageurs and thank us for coming to support them! It was very close to game time and I thought it was a very nice gesture from him and the others!

Definitely.. when Jamie and I saw him in the hotel they were just leaving breakfast. Some other players ignored us but Dero was seriously impressed we came to see them play and he was the one that convinced Hume, Johnson and the others to board the bus and say Hi. I gained a lot of respect for him that day.

Yeah, I even said it at the time that DeRo when he made that gesture was in the heat of the moment, under a lot of stress with trying to get his contract issues sorted out, and, simple as this, made a poor decision that lasted about 3 seconds, that lasted in the media much longer than 3 seconds.

It happens. I never did make too much of it, I think of DeRo as a class guy, everyone makes mistakes, and he's not the only player in the last 10 (5? 1?) years that has felt frustrated with the management at TFC.

Please, no Henry at right back. Put Fresenga in instead. I would also liked to see Attakora/Jakovic swithced up if possible. Every time I see D.C united highlights, it always includes at least one opposition goal where Dejan is getting absolutely skinned in the process.

Jakovic is one of most overrated CMNT players. Just because he can make a simple pass as a CB without mucking it up...

I think he was our best centre back from about 2009-10. Now he is decent back-up, behind probably Hainault and Edgar.

---------------Ricketts-----------

-------------De Rosario----------

Teibert---JBB----Dunfield---Bekker

Morgan--Jakovic-Attakora--Fresenga

--------------Stillo---------------------

I'd like to see that. Really want to see Bekker on the wing, he looked good in the middle but we really struggled to create anything down the right. JBB and Dunfield should make a decent defensive combo in the middle, which I'm sure we'll need and hopefully Bourgault can catch some MLS eyes.

I'd like to see Henry get a shot at his natural position, centre back, to try and make up for some of his poor decision making from last match.

Most importantly from a team perspective, I would like to see a narrower, more compact team which crowds the middle of the pitch, limiting the yanks to hopeful crosses and long range efforts.

Until a Full Time Manager is put in place, todays match is just entertainment. I actually hope Klinsmen fails over the coming months as I would like to see Canada approach and sign him for our next Manager.

I would be disappointed if we went for a big name manager and it turned out to be Jurgen. I'd love to see Arena, however unlikely his leaving the Galaxy may be (perhaps he'd want to go out on a high after winning the MLS Cup and with Becks and Landycakes gone or seemingly not up for it anymore).

I'd like to see Stinson over Dunfield. I think we all know what Dunfield can offer and I'd like to see how well Stinson can do.

with Zusi and Davis, two of best crossers in MLS on wing for US?

He took a young German squad to 3rd place in 2006 Worlds and after going through qualifying this time around in the CONCACAF he will have a better idea on how to approach it if he fails. Also we need goals and what better than a fantastic striker to pass on better striking habits.

Even if there was a full time manager in place he would be essentially teaching his system to a group of experimental players. It is more important IMO to evaluate these players and see who can be a part of the Gold Cup squad and the team moving forward. Throwing them in the deep end as they are doing is the right approach imo. If Evan James and Kyle Porter score against a minnow we think they are good enough, but the truth is that when the games matter you are facing quality and if you can't handle Denmark B you aren't going to be able to handle Honduras away with everything on the line. If we can get 4+ new faces out of this team I think we'll be happy and you can already pencil in Teibert and Bekker for future teams.

Yeah I agree. He isn't really a great defender, he is just composed on the ball and that is why many want to see him in the starting 11.

Then if thats the case make it public that Miller will be staying on until the Gold Cup finishes because as we all know a new manager is going to take a total different direction and bring in the players he feels that will get the job done and these so called warm up matches for the Gold Cup become nothing more than meaningless friendlies.

If they can crowd out the middle and get numbers in the area, few crosses would likely reach their intended targets. Perhaps, I've seen too many lower league English sides manage it versus top flight English sides. Obviously, with the limited time training together would make it tougher, I would hope decent coaching and positional drilling we could manage it.

I've heard quite a few times Low was the main reason for their success at that world cup. PLus JK's time at Bayern was less than fruitful IIRC. Just a personal feeling I've got which makes me feel he isn't nearly as good as the US thinks and needs.

It's not De Rosario position, but I would like to see something like this.

Henry in his natural position, and he shouldn't have any problems.

Yes I don't disagree about Low's involement but we will never get a Manager like him at this time. Klinsmen, however, is in North America and would bring a much needed German Technical approach to Canada's game.
