GC2013 Travel & Accommodations

Mods plz sticky this so we can start planning en masse.

Myself along with Zack, Finchy, and a few others are for sure planning on taking in at least 2 of the group stage games if not all three depending on how horrendous they make travel for our group. We're thinking it'd be pretty slick if we could try and get all Voyageurs in the same hotel(s) to make coordination easier, and quite frankly to party and get loaded.

If you're planning on going to any of the group stage games, please post here so we can keep you in the loop as to what the consensus plan is for accommodations and other general activities. Banner making will also factor into this somehow, it will just make it easier to coordinate getting the existing banners to the games as well as creating new ones.

Canada's Gold Cup Schedule

Sunday July 7th - Los Angeles - Canada vs. Martinique - 2:30pm PT

Thursday July 11th - Seattle - Canada vs. Mexico - 8:00pm PT

Sunday July 14th - Denver - Canada vs. Panama - 4:30pm MT

So it looks like everyone in BC will be able to drive down to Seattle to watch us get crushed by Mexico at CenturyLink. The fun one will obviously be vs. Martinique in LA, with the nail-biter being vs. Panama in Denver at Mile High.

Watch this thread for info on coordination for this trip. I just spoke with Don'tPanic (Trevor) as he and SoccerOnly (Jamie) are going to discuss details. Once I hear back the thread will be updated.

I search everyday for that schedule and have yet to see anything.

I know lots of us are still grieving but why not look to the future and get excited for it? We also have some new members from the WCQ campaign and I hope they show an interest in becoming a year-round V.

Central American cup starts today and ends on the 27th. We should get a schedule after that because we'll know all the teams playing.

Anyways I'll definitely make an effort to get to at least one and maybe more of these games over the summer.

Oh yea, good point Sam. It's also on Gol TV for those interested.

I am planning on catching at least 1 game. Group stage or otherwise depending on summer job schedule/money available.

In this year's schedule they have added an extra day to the tournament, but,

we can guess (based on the past schedule) that this day is probably the break they didn't have 2 years ago between the 2nd group stage game and the 3rd:

The first set of group stage games would be:

-Sunday July 7th

-Monday July 8th

-Tuesday July 9th

The second would be:

-Thursday July 11th

-Friday July 12th

-Saturday July 13th

The third would be:

-Monday July 15th

-Tuesday July 16th

-Wednesday July 17th

-(Maybe they want to fit all quarterfinals on Sat/Sun)? (20/21st?)

-Thursday July 25th (likely semi-final day)

-The final will be on Sunday July 28th

For the last tournament:

-Cities were announced on December 16th (a little less than 6 months before the June 5th start date)

-Schedule was announced on March 8th (a little less than 3 months before the start date)

-Tickets went on sale on March 15th

So my hope is that cities will be announced soon and that we'll have the full schedule by at least April 10th.

Hope this helps people plan vacation time.

Trevor can you act as the flights adviser on this? If we can get it organized close to the level of the WCQs then hopefully people will be more willing to make the trip(s).

Hey is Eli on the board yet? And anyone else who regularly stands at the front of 114 during Nats games.

Just waiting on the official schedule. We will move on buses/flights/hotels as soon as it is.
