Also in England

League One - Iain Hume plays 90 for Doncaster Rovers in a 1-0 win over Colchester.

FA Cup - David Edgar comes on at the 46th minute, they lose 1-0 to Barnsley.

Keeping an eye out for Gyorio to crack the lineup at Fleetwood, he didn't make an appearance on the bench today as yet.

Goal today from Sim was quality. Good first touch between two defenders then a quick toe tap to lift it over the keeper.

The opposition isn't quality, though, unfortunately.

Wonder what the future holds for Simeon. Might be preferable to see him lead the Championship in scoring to playing a bit role in the BPL, but I'm not sure, really.

All signs coming out of Norwich is that he may be shipped this January.

I'd be very suprised if Simeon could lead the Championship in scoring, even on a fairly dominant team.

Paging Hodgkiss, something tells me he'll disagree with you... ;)

simeon is a good player when he shows up - which is usually the last 3rd of every season. so... if the move him, his better football is ahead of him. if he stays on, we will more than likely see a late surge of 6-8 goals helping norwich to solidify a mid table spot.

the truth is, he has been fairly successful at every level he has played conference all the way to bpl. i don't think many can argue otherwise. and in championship he should be able to push for a scoring title if he wants to play. he almost seems to me like he is a gifted kid who is bored in school and only doing the assignments he/she is interested in (particularly when there is a challenge).

in any case, good luck to him.

Don't get me wrong I think he can contribute in the EPL and definitely in the Championship, but I don't think he has the consistency or if he received more attention the ability to score enough goals consistently to be the type of guy to be a top scorer in the Championship. Hes a good but not great goal poacher, isn't a target man and doesn't have enough other skills to take him to the next level other than his speed. If he develops a few more skills. I'd love to be wrong and see him tear up the EPL or lead the Championship in goals, tbh I wouldn't be that surprised since the guy has proven people wrong through hard work and dedication his whole career.

no left foot, can't head the ball, no poaching skills, only pace (at every level in england):

rushden & diamonds (conference)

gillingham (league 2 and 1 - helped promote)

norwich (championship and bpl - helped promote)

canada

look at these stats:

2004–2008 Rushden & Diamonds 88 apps (40) goals

2008–2010 Gillingham 101 apps (35) goals

2010– Norwich City 69 apps (17) goals

National team‡

2006–2008 Canada U-20 7 apps (0) goals

2009– Canada 33 apps (6) goals

that is 99 goals since 2004 - not too shabby for a guy with pace only.

btw, he was tied for 13th most goals in the championship in 2011 with 13.

Not to mention he spent a lot of that time coming off the bench, too. If you break that down into goals per minute played, I bet Simeon would go much closer to the top in actual productivity. (See Javier Hernandez for Manchester United as well)

I think his stats from Championship and lower divisions means little today where he stands now. He needs to score more in the Premier League.

This is his record in the Premier League:

2011-12: 10 GS, 12 sub --> 3 goals, 2 assists;

2012-13: 4 GS, 5 sub --> 1 goal.

That makes a total of 31 games played (17 as a sub), 4 goals and 2 assist. Not enough goals and not enough playing time, IMO. I consider he's still our best striker at club level.

just to give you a comparison for this year...

clint dempsey has 4 goals and 3 assists in 16 games (12 starts)

patrice evra has 4 goals and 2 assists in 20 games (20 starts)

peter crouch 4 goals and 3 assists in 19 games (14 starts)

andy carroll 1 goal and 0 assists in 12 games (9 starts)

i would say he is on par with any of these guys when you look at the stats.

he will turn it on shortly. the last 10 games of the season he will score at least 5. always does.

It's not just the stats. And on top of that, don't see the need to compare Jackson with Evra, a left back, and Dempsey, who's not a striker. In any case, your stats are telling me that there are defenders capable to score more goals than Jackson.

The problem with Jackson is sometimes he's not in the game. I mean, he starts the game but it's like he's not on the field. The game goes on and after 20 - 30 minutes you remember indeed, he started the match.

I felt this when he played for the NMT and also a few times when I saw him play with Norwich.

IMO Jackson is Premier League quality. In the games I've seen, he has always been effective in the limited minutes he gets, even if he isn't scoring. If Norwich are thinking of parting ways with Jackson and I was another lower table club, I'd get him for sure.

Also, he's clutch.
