Hope to one day get to the Maritimes for a visit with the family! I go back quite awhile as I watched Canada qualify for their last World Cup when they won a match in New Foundland! msilverstein47
Howdy! Were you at the match in NFLD when they qualified? no I watched the match that day on channel 41 which was Spanish television. However, the funny story was that the NY Times ended up carrying the story about the difference between St. John's NFLD and St. John NB. Sept. 14, 1985: Canada qualifies for the World Cup Canada defeated Honduras 2-1 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in the final match of round-robin CONCACAF qualifying for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Legend has it that most of the traveling Honduras fans ended up in Saint John, New Brunswick, more than 800 miles away. A cold day, a ragged pitch, and still the only time Canada has qualified for The Big Show.
