Soccerpro
The team is looking a lot better for next year. The organization has learned some tough lessons. The 3 additions are pure quality. deschamp86
Edmonton's offseason has gotten me excited for next year. I've slowly become more and more of a fan. Hopefully Ottawa makes similar moves when they enter the league
nolando
Nice to see Edson Edward aboard although a part of me hopes this isn't the end of Canadians playing for NASL clubs other than FCE. Harmse is the one notable exception left, IIRC.
Grizzly
Those are three really solid additions to FCE. Looks like they are in better hands this year than last. What happened with Kevin Hatchi this year? Given how he played last year for Montreal despite the over aggressiveness and collision with Gaudette I would have expected him to have done very well with FCE this year. alberta white
What I noted in Both the CBC and the ESG Interview done by the "THRILLA FROM MANILLA" is that Colin's eager and exited to get cracking. He also looks like the type of bloke who be up front when interviewed, giving straight answers to straight questions. Not had chace to listen to the RN interview yet. The 3 additions are pure quality. Rumour has it that they're looking for a striker in Europe. They had a hell of a time on set pieces. Good to see them addressing that with some quality additions to the backend, which now consists of Rago, Proctor, Hlavaty, Edward, and HaMVPilton. 5 quality guys back there. Lord Bob
Former Whitecap/San Antonio Scorpion Wes Knight is off to FC Edmonton, along with two other guys. http://www.fcedmonton.com/news/2013-01-08/Off%20Season%20Player%20Signings%20Continue%20at%20FC%20Edmonton Between Knight and Laing, with Rago doing whatever he's going to do, FCE might wind up with the best fullbacks in the league. jedinathan
You can take Porter off that list. The11.ca reported today that the club has confirmed that the offer made to him expired/was withdrawn. Hopefully he can catch on with DC United where he's on trial right now. Really risky move and just lost his negotiation leverage. If he does stick it would be good for the Canadian national team! If he does stick it would be good for the Canadian national team! Maybe get another call-up De Rosario has his green card by now and with this being Jakovic's 5th season in DC he probably isn't far off. FWIW Porter has been impressing in the DC camp. He assisted the only goal in a 1-1 draw with Malmo after landing the night before and was apparently the most dangerous player on the pitch. DC fans seem to think he has a good shot at sticking. You also have to wonder if this is on the recommendation of DeRo and if it is that definitely helps his case. http://www.blackandredunited.com/d-c-united-2013-season/2013/2/2/3942992/dc-united-malmo-ff-2013-mls-preseason-kyle-porter

alberta white
Very hard to keep 3 top line keepers at a club. Third is normally the reserve with four as his understudy. Recompenced according to seniority , obviously.

With Lance Parker gone and new coach can definitely win the number 1 job or train with a club and be fit for Ottawa arrival in the NASl.

nolando
I find it surprising that Paul Hamilton isn't locked up yet: http://the11.ca/2013/02/26/fces-miller-no-player-from-last-place-team-gets-a-free-pass/ And that means that even players who made the NASL Best XI last season aren’t immune from criticism. “I have spoken to Paul (Hamilton), he knows he has work to do,” said Miller. “There are weaknesses in his game that I have seen, and that we have talked about. I think the experience that Albert Watson (the Northern Irish veteran who came to FCE from Linfield FC) brings will help Paul with his game. “But we finished last in the league, last season. Last! We can’t keep things as they were. That’s not to say that Paul Hamilton was the reason we finished last, not at all, but the guys here know what’s expected of them. They know what their deficiencies are. I can’t control what happened last season. But I can control it now that I am here.” also... "Edson Edward, the Canadian fullback who spent last season with the Puerto Rico Islanders, has not officially made the team." Apparently the remaining FC Edmonton "trialists" played U of A last night. I can't track down a report except bits from twitter: FCEdmonton @FCEdmontonNow #FCEd finish the game 3-1 after @MCox19 scores the final goal vs #UofA! Great game! @BearsandPandas @UAlberta I think Mirabelli scored the second goal. Pics from the match: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151444836469494.501222.307004169493&type=1 Maybe we'll see fewer Canadians in the starting eleven than in the past two years. For the better of results, I wonder? The official first 16 signed (Canadians bolded and italicized) are: John Smits Lance Parker Albert Watson Antonio Rago Chris de Guise David Proctor Lance Laing Mallan Roberts Wesley Knight Chris Nurse Hanson Boakai Neil Hlavaty Shaun Saiko Ajeej Sarkaria Daryl Fordyce Sadi Jalali
