SCF08
Maybe a nice idea to create a topic for players without a club who could be a good fit for any of the Canadian MLS teams. I'll start off with Luigi Bruins. 25 year old Dutch midfield playmaker who is a free agent after leaving Excelsior this summer. He has previously won the Dutch cup with Feyenoord and the European U21 Championships with Holland. He is a good set piece taker and has good reading and vision of the game as well. Technically he is also up there with the very best but he cannot really cope with high tempo matches. He is a phlegmatic player and that has been his biggest problem. I believe he would be perfect for MLS standards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luigi_Bruins 2004/05 Excelsior 1 0 Eerste divisie 2005/06 Excelsior 35 4 Eerste divisie 2006/07 Excelsior 30 6 Eredivisie 2007/08 Feyenoord 27 6 Eredivisie 2008/09 Feyenoord 22 1 Eredivisie 2009/10 Feyenoord 21 2 Eredivisie 2010/11 Feyenoord 20 2 Eredivisie 2011/12 Red Bull Salzburg 3 0 Austria 2011/12 Excelsior 9 2 Eredivisie Total: 168
SCF08
Second player I'd like to point out is Royston Drenthe (25 year old Left Winger). He is probably a more familiar name to most of you guys and he is also without a club. He desperately wanted to come back to Feyenoord this summer and even though most of the fans also wanted him back, Ronald Koeman felt has wasn't needed at the club. There are some questionmarks about his attitude but he can be a brilliant player when he's in the right place. He fell out a bit at Everton last season because he turned up late for training on two occasions. He has won La Liga with Real Madrid, Won the Spanish Super Cup, Won the European U21 Championship with Holland and was named Player of the tournament as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royston_Drenthe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deXsXZI2us8 2005/06 Feyenoord 3 0 Eredivisie 2006/07 Feyenoord 26 0 Eredivisie 2007/08 Real Madrid 18 2 Primera Division 2008/09 Real Madrid 20 0 Primera Division 2009/10 Real Madrid 8 0 Primera Division 2010/11 Hércules Alicante 17 4 Primera Division 2011/12 Everton 21 3 Premier League Total: 113
SCF08
Last player for now is Craig Gordon (29 year old Goalkeeper). The most expensive British goalkeeper of all-time. Signed by Sunderland for 9 million pounds. Injury problems gave Simon Mingolet the chance to shine at Sunderland and Gordon was never able to win his place back. He has also been without a club since the summer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Gordon 2002/03 Heart of Midlothian 1 0 Schotland 2003/04 Heart of Midlothian 30 0 Schotland 2004/05 Heart of Midlothian 38 0 Schotland 2005/06 Heart of Midlothian 37 0 Schotland 2006/07 Heart of Midlothian 34 0 Schotland 2007/08 Heart of Midlothian 0 0 Schotland 2007/08 Sunderland 34 0 Premier League 2008/09 Sunderland 13 0 Premier League 2009/10 Sunderland 26 0 Premier League 2010/11 Sunderland 15 0 Premier League 2011/12 Sunderland 1 0 Premier League Total: 229
Macksam
Drenthe would command DP type money I imagine. In all honesty, he would be worth that if he keeps his head is in the correct place. When it comes to my opinion on the first guy, I'm worried about the quote "he cannot really cope with high tempo matches," considering that's what MLS matches tend to be. Unless he's got that Riquelme like ability to slow down matches to his liking, Bruins should probably look elsewhere to play.

Bruins would be perfect for most MLS teams, especially the Canadian ones. He is creative, technically gifted...he just doesn't do defending. Drenthe would be DP money. I guess a million dollars would be his expectation. Bruins was on 300.000 Euro's last year at Salzburg. He can probably be signed for less than that now since he is looking for a club. He has only been at trial with Olympique Nice in august.
TheKottonmouthed1555362307
John Carew is a free agent as well. At 33, still an imposing force in the box. maybe he could opt for the MLS, not sure if he'd fit into a Canadian team though. 1997–1999 Vålerenga 43 (19) 1999–2000 Rosenborg 17 (18) 2000–2004 Valencia 84 (20) 2003–2004 → Roma (loan) 20 (6) 2004–2005 Beşiktaş 24 (13) 2005–2007 Lyon 35 (10) 2007–2011 Aston Villa 113 (37) 2011 → Stoke City (loan) 10 (1) 2011–2012 West Ham United 19 (2) 1995 Norway U15 7 (5) 1996 Norway U16 2 (2) 1996–1997 Norway U17 3 (1) 1997 Norway U18 5 (5) 1997–2000 Norway U21 24 (8) 1998–2011 Norway 91 (24)

Greatest Cockney Rip Off
John Carew is a free agent as well. At 33, still an imposing force in the box. 2011–2012 West Ham United 19 (2) I was at the match that he scored his two goals for West Ham last season and he was absolutely unplayable that day. Won every header and West Ham ended up beating Blackpool 4-0. His other games for West Ham he just didn't have the same spark, but played a lot less minutes. I do think he could have a good season or two in MLS if he was to come over and stay healthy.
maccaliam
Bruno Cheyrou http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Cheyrou Benoit Cheyrou http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benoît_Cheyrou It appears his contract is up at the end of the season (according to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/benot-cheyrou/profil/spieler_5645.html anyway), meaning an MLS side could sign him in January,
Loud Mouth Soup
Harry Kewell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Kewell Kewell left Australia to return to England for reasons concerning his wife's family. Health issues, I believe. He won't be leaving there any time soon.

ThiKu
Lots of good players.....two DP's on the books the Whitecaps would have to drop one or both to make room for any combination of the available players here. Most would command high money.
