Trillium
Road to Brazil ends in Honduras Posted on 16 October 2012 in FIFA World Cup Canada has been eliminated from 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers after finishing third in Group C of the CONCACAF 3rd Round. Canada finished third in the group behind Honduras and Panama, with only two teams advancing from each of three different groups on 16 October 2012. Canada accumulated 10 points in six matches, in fact the second most it has accumulated since this stage was introduced in 1992. Canada finished third in the 2012 group behind Honduras and Panama, who both finished with 11 points. In 2013, six teams will participate in the CONCACAF Final Round. From those six teams, three will automatically qualify for Brazil 2014 while a fourth will advance to an inter-conference playoff. Only 32 nations will participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. They do not even mention the score... this is horrible crap from the CSA and since this is not about the president its from Peter Montipioli shining us on ... oh we were eliminated not !!! Canada Pounded 8-1 by a country of eight million with nominal per capita GDP income of $2,135 dollars. or Canada loses, 8-1 to Honduras, CSA emergency meeting called for Friday. or Canada loses 8-1, the CSA president Victor Montaglini accepted Stephen Harts resignation at the Airport. or We are ashamed, the CSA apolgizes to every Canadian fan. Moldy9
That's why I never go on their site for any Canada news or other soccer news cause it is all slander and propaganda. Everything nice and rosy. I think FIFA took a page out of their playbook. Deny, Deny, Deny.
squizz1402635577
Um, you know that any press release, from any company or organization, is going to minimize the negatives and attempt to accentuate positive and/or neutral information, right? That this isn't some obfuscation technique employed exclusively by the CSA?

Actually most well run companies and organizations acknowledge when they have made mistakes, will apologize for them and pledge to their customers to do better. It is the poor ones who try to hide things and pretend that everything is ok. To have a result like this and not even mention the score is an insult to the soccer fans in this country. What they should have done is acknowledged the failure, apologized to the fans and stated there will be major changes to come within the CSA and Canadian soccer to prevent this happening in the future. alberta white
No doubt using the same PR company as Excell foods in Brookes Alberta did. "Canada Accumulated 10 points in six matches" Big deal. Does the CSA not know the old addage about how fast you need to outrun a bear? Cause yesterday they basically got eaten!
VPjr
As someone who has had to stare hopelessly at a computer screen, trying to type a story after my team had a bad performance, I can understand leaving out the score. Hell, I can't bring myself to type that scoreline in a bloody text message yet...it makes my head hurt to just think about how many goals were conceded. xcalibre
The manner of defeat was a little too extreme to just be glossed over like that...

canadianfoot
Quotes from CSA website on the loss to Honduras: Canadian head coach Stephen Hart: "The goals in the first half were preventable. We did not defend well and we paid the price. We (also) had two chances that, had we scored, we would have turned the crowd." Canadian captain Kevin McKenna on the demoralising loss: "It wasn't the coach Stephen Hart, it was the players." "The team is still not ready to win against these teams on the road. "It was wave after wave, we couldn't believe they scored on every chance."
