I'm thinking this is the lineup that the team goes with to start out against T&T: 4-5-1 or 4-3-3

Hirschfeld

Ledgerwood Jakovic Hainault Jazic

Ricketts Johnson Bernier De Guzman De Jong

Cavallini

OR

Hirschfeld

Ledgerwood Jakovic Hainault Jazic

Johnson Bernier De Guzman

Ricketts Cavallini De Jong

Another possibility would be taking out Cavallini, putting Ricketts in that starting Central Striker spot, and bringing in Dunfield.

Looks very much like they are using this game to give a second and last look at a few players who are just off the radar. And 1-2 of those are way off the radar so i cant imagine why they would be getting looked at. In all, are perhaps 8-10 player on the list whom I wouldn't expect to get called up in September. but i would look at perhaps one or two of those to impress and force Stephen Hart's hand

I am happy with the roster for this friendly.

Thoughts:

Glad to see Henry get rewarded with a call up. With over 40 apperances in MLS and CONCACAF, he is now a viable option should we need backline depth. Good to see Hart take this opportunity to get him acclimatized to the senior level.

Tiebert is an interesting inclusion. He has virtually seen no time in MLS this season, but at least has made the bench in recent weeks. That is not enough to warrent a call, but he is a young left footed player and likely an alternative to Morgan (who TFC may have requested to keep). Not upset to see him called because we always knew the 19 year old would find himself in the national team pool sooner or later.

Cavallini: I am very happy to see him called, and although I have only seen him a handful of times, he appears to fit the "Occean" mold. In other words, he is physical , mobile, and can finish. We have little depth for strikers in this hemisphere so if he does well I am sure we will see more of him whenever we play in the Americas.

Evan James: indication we had trouble getting players called in. Showed promise in the U-23's though and maybe the camp will give him confidence he can break into Impact first team.

De Jong: I am more surpised Augsburg released him than surprised Hart called him. As good as Jazic has done, we need to get this guy involved again. He is a starter in the Bundesliga and has too much quality not to be part of qualifying. Not saying he steps back into the starting role automatically, but good on Hart for giving him a chance to show the spot is his.

Anyone know who T&T called?

So where is DeRo?

It's going to be very interesting to see what we can manage in attack with so many players missing. It would be unfair to expect too much from the 3 rookie attackers here. We're going to get a real good idea of what Ricketts offers by himself here, I'm excited. Also pretty surprised that REB isn't there.

I think this is a terrible lineup in the middle of a WCQ qualification round. It would be a great lineup if we were in a long break before the next round or not in WCQ. However, we have two extremely important WCQ matches coming up and this is a FIFA date. We should have called our best players.

Here is my list of those ten players that i talked about who are off the radar.

3- M - Russell Teibert | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC

4- CB- Dejan Jaković | USA / D.C. United

7- M - Terry Dunfield | CAN / Toronto FC

10- F- Lucas Cavallini | URU / Club Nacional

11- FB- Marcel de Jong | GER / FC Augsburg

12- M- Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault |

14- M/F- Evan James | CAN / Impact Montréal

15- CB- Doneil Henry | CAN / Toronto FC

16- M- Pedro Pacheco | POR / CD Santa Clara

20- M - Patrice Bernier | CAN / Impact Montréal

And, my take on their prospects to sneak in as one or two of the Sept callups:

Good chance:

20- M - Patrice Bernier | CAN / Impact Montréal -

(Good chance IMO. Has scored goals in MLS from a MF role. And we lack that on teh national side)

4- CB- Dejan Jaković | USA / D.C. United -

(The only danger is that the back line has played well and there may be no room for him)

Outside shot:

11- FB- Marcel de Jong | GER / FC Augsburg -

(With Kluka, Morgan, and Jazic where is he going fit.)

12- M- Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault -

(Hart has already seen him so he knows whatbhe can do)

7- M - Terry Dunfield | CAN / Toronto FC|

(Coaches seem to like player who work their butts off. regardless of their talent)

16- M- Pedro Pacheco | POR / CD Santa Clara

(In the games i have seen, he has looked Ok)

Unlikely:

15- CB- Doneil Henry | CAN / Toronto FC

(Numbers Game and more experience d men are available to Stephen hart)

10- F- Lucas Cavallini | URU / Club Nacional

(Looked good at U23's but its a big risk going with him when we need goals and he has no experience at this level. also, very little is known from his professional env)

Highly unlikely:

3- M - Russell Teibert | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC

( why on earth? he is getting no professional minutes. But, unlike the next guy, at least he looked good at the U20 and U23 levels)

WTF:

14- M/F- Evan James | CAN / Impact Montréal

(Ok-as i have begun to suspect since the last U20 tea-, now i know that club politics have crept into the national selection process. This is the selection to please the Impact because this player did not particularly standout at teh U23's, he was OK..... barely i guess. I fear from what i have seen in the last 2-3 year on the national scene that the NT programs are becoming like a first ministers conference whereby the coaches are like the PM who is dishing out perks to this province/constituency and that province/constituency and trying to please everyone instead of doing whats right and on merit. Cant call too many TFC players regardless of merit or else the coaches will be lableled Toronto centric)

It would have been nice to get our full A squad. Let's look at who is missing.

Starters: Hutch, McKenna, Occean, Edgar,Jackson, DeRo(?)

Subs: Issey, Klukowski, Hume

Am I missing anyone?

Mckenna is injured

Issey, Klukowski, and Occean are getting acclimatizing to their new clubs

Hume may have been left in the UK to sort himself out.

That leaves Jackson, Hutchinson, and Edgar...

They are likely the players he had trouble getting released.

I think it unlikely that Hart didn't at least try to call in the likes of Simeon Jackson and Atiba Hutchinson. Don't you?

I'm sure Hart called his best players but this is a tight window. I can't think of anyone besides Hume who should/could be there.
