nolando
- I see Caolan Lavery signed on with Sheffield Wednesday: http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20755 Former Blues youngster Caolan Lavery is joining newly-promoted Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. The 19-year-old Northern Ireland U21 international had been without a club since turning down a short-term contract with Town at the end of his extended Academy scholarship in October. - And OH is apparently still a wanker: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2163419/Owen-**********-fast-tracked-Englands-system.html

alberta white
Any updates on Begovic? Depressing that so many of our defectors come from Alberta. Must admit that living in Alberta as a newbie, Kinda doesn't make one feel that inclined to become overtly canadian. But thats possibly due to the 'welcoming nature' of the Immigration process, rather than the intergrating with the Populace, who in the whole are teriffic! Personally I would tell my own kids hat If they pull a National shirt at any Level, then that's them for life. No switching sides. It totally defeats the object. jpg75
Not an Albertan (neither is Dani Fernandes), but former TFC Academy man and fake-Portuguese Int'l Ricardo Ferreira is now on loan to Serie B side Empoli from AC Milan. Not bad for a 20 yr old. http://www.zerozero.pt/jogador.php?id=74740 He has played 1 match so far in which he went 90. Toje
"“I don’t feel bad playing for the Czech Republic,” he says. “It has always been a dream of mine when growing up. When I was in the Czech Republic watching the World Cup, the atmosphere was so amazing and that has served as my true inspiration and my love for the game. He is refreshingly open and honest when he says he was not contacted by Canada until after he had been approached by the Czechs. “Once I had the Czech offer, I would not have given it up,” he says. “As long as they continue to treat me well, I would definitely stay with them." http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/soccer/Twardek+embraces+tough+road/9285577/story.html
Lord Bob
You forgot a real money quote of course. "A while back, he and his mentors put together a package of videos from his time with Everton and Millwall and offered it to the powers that be with the Czech Republic U-17 national team." So he had his mind made up before anyone contacted him?

So he had his mind made up before anyone contacted him? Seriously ... Starnes has been writing about this kid from age 12, I know he has been at coaching conferences as a player where CSA coaches led the training ... he has OSA provincial coach in Ottawa who would have seen him, so quite likely the OSA and CSA folks do not think he makes the grade, if that comes back to bite them ...really do they care ? Earl Cochrane now with CSA.. says it all TFC imcompetence promoted to the National Association... priceless as they say.

Toje
Kristopher Twardek has been called up again by the Czech Republic U17 team. They will play (and host) the elite round of qualifying against England, Albania and Italy. The games are being played only 50km from where I live, but since they are all during the week, I am not able to make it. Toje
Interview with Kristopher from the Czech FA http://nv.fotbal.cz/scripts/detail.php?id=148749&tmplid=1484 - He said he wanted to play international football, and in the end he decided to go with the Czech Republic - When he first joined the Czech Republic team, he didn't speak a word of Czech. His dad is from Ostrava.

Not good enough for Canada's U20's, but atleast he has a shot at international play with a small country in Europe.

Yes, a small country, but up until recently a good team internationally. I am not defending him at all, just the country in terms of football.
