Saskatchewan Senior Men's Soccer?

Recommended Posts

So last season saw Saskatchewan win the men's senior title. This season the only information I can find is division 2 city league stuff. Even on the U18 "boys" side, there was only one team willing to play provincially in the SPL?

Does anyone local have any extra info?

Saskatchewan has not had a provincial mens league for 2 or 3 years now. The team that won the nationals last year played in a local Saskatoon league all summer which basically provided no competition for them. This year they are training and playing exibition games only. They play regularly against the Uof S Huskies and their reserves. This year they are also the only team to register for Provincial qualifier so they will be going to Nationals uncontested. The team is a little stronger than last year with a few good additions.

That's crazy. The only team to register?

What's going on is Sask?

In all honesty with the Huskies program and their Academy plus the Huskies Alumni senior team there isn't really much left in Saskatoon talent wise to make a team that could compete. They tried last year to have a good city league for the summer and it was flop. The Huskie Alumni team easily won every game and sometimes with a makeshift lineup.
