Singapore Cup

Hougang United played without "Canadian wing wonder" Webb and lost 2-0 to Gombak, ending their run in the cup.

"It helps that Fairoz is arguably a less critical absentee than the man he had a hand in taking out of Hougang’s squad for Saturday, Canadian wing wonder Jordan Webb.

The Cheetahs pivot picked up his second yellow card of the tournament following an altercation with the former Sengkang Punggol trainee, giving his coach Nenad Bacina a minor headache as he looks to seal the tie and a place in the semifinals."

Eintracht Braunschweig lost a friendly to Arminia Bielefeld 0-1. REB played the second half. Again the formation was 4-3-3. I don't want to pat myself on the back or anything for suggesting this back when he signed :D, but it seems, judging from the friendlies so far, Randy will indeed play as a winger mostly.

Today there's another game against Mönchengladbach II, before the team will fly to Austria for pre-season camp. Upcoming friendlies then against Panathinaikos, Krasnodar and Valencia (who replace Rangers, since the latter canceled their pre-season tour due to all the difficulties they have).

That's good news. We need more Canadian guys learning the game out wide in technical winger positions.

Norway

Pozniak started for Haugesund but was subbed out in the 61st min as they are losing 2-0 to Odd Grenland, who enact revenge after losing them midweek in the Norwegian Cup.

Hirschfeld has started for Valerenga, who are beating Sandnes Ulf 2-0.

Finland

Riley O'Neill was the goalscorer for MyPA as they drew KuPS 1-1.

Sweden

Turina keeps the starting spot for AIK despite being beaten for four last week, so Kenny S had to settle for the bench as AIK beat Hacken 3-1.

Frank Jonke is the scorer in his team's 1-0 win.

Thanks for the video (goal starts about 1:40 in the video). Jonke has scored 3 goals in 5 games since he started playing for Jaro and has been a big part in turning their season around. They are still in last place and the only relegation spot but now are tied on points with the team before them and within striking distance of the lower mid-table teams. They have a record of 2 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss since he joined the club.

Especially impressive since he wasn't playing for many months.

In the game against Gladbach II REB played 45 minutes in midfield, if matchreports are correct. Eintracht won 3:2, Randy didn't score again, but he was mentioned positively a few times by those who were at the game.

The game today against Panathinaikos will supposedly be shown live on Greek channel OTE Sport 1. Those of you who know their internets might be able to see it then (it starts 18:00 CET).

^ Game ended in a 1-1 draw with Randy finishing the game, not sure if he started. He was involved in Eintracht's goal sending the initial ball into the box from the left.

Norway

Odd Grenland 2 - 3 Valerenga IF

Lars Hirschfeld in goal for Valerenga

Singapore

Geylang 1 - 2 Hougang, Jordan Webb scored the winner in injury time.

He needs to get out of there ASAP. If he is really that talented there is no reason a Canadian should need to play in Singapore.

He is just as well off there as anywhere else. He has as much chance to get scouted by a better Asian league there as he does to go somewhere else and find a good league/club. If he came back to North America if he could get a contract at all it would probably be in NASL so I don't think Singapore is the worst place for him. Probably pays decently and remember Issey went straight from there to Denmark. Incidentally his nickname there is The Canadian Assassin!

Haidar has suited up for a half of a couple of Nimes' exhibition matches this week, sharing time with 20 y/o Mathieu Michel, which bodes well for sticking around with the club as they return to Lg 2 which starts July 27: http://www.nimes-olympique.com/20120711673/news-professionnels/nimes-vainqueur-du-derby-face-a-uzes-pont-du-gard.html

EDIT: Incumbent Cyrille Merville is injured and could miss opening night against Auxerre
