Canada has announced details and roster for an upcoming men's U-20 camp in Mexico from 1-9 July 2012. Canadian U-20 coach Nick Dasovic has selected 20 players for the nine-day camp that will include two international matches against host Mexico.

The two Men's U-20 International Friendly matches will be played against Mexico on Friday 6 July and Sunday 8 July.

Coach Dasovic's selections currently play club football in either Canada or across the ocean in Europe. This marks coach Dasovic's second project for 1993-born players, with an eye towards next year's biennial CONCACAF & FIFA competitions. Canada will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship from 18 February to 3 March in Mexico. Four teams from the 12-team tournament will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013.

Plus couple ex-TFC academy players.

EDIT: More than 2 ex-TFC academy players.

Four actually.

Vukovic, Alleman, Lao, Gardner.

Plus, at some point, you have to think that Petrasso will be in the Mix. So thats five right there. Withe Carriero that would be six.

I have watched Carmargo a few times this year. If he is not in mix, someone should have their head examined. Parker Seymour (currently in College) and Maybe Omari Morris, who is rely fast and lively will get a good look, i figure.

Is this worth keeping track of?

Whitecaps: 6

TFC: 5

Impact: 1

FC Edmonton: 1

Yes and no. Its a camp so you have to figure that Doniel Henry and Quillan Roberts are not invited because they are with the senior team.

The one with FC Edmonton, is Dino Gardner. But he was with TFCA but had has some kind of falling out. Dont recall the exact story. Think that he was in the same boat as Aleman whereby he didnt want to sign some sort of commitment. He did this because he wanted to pursue the overseas options.

Aside from Camargo, Henry and Roberts, also missing are Crepeau, Piette, Makubuya (who has been playing well and scoring for TFC Reserves this year) and Caleb Clarke.

I think Petrasso, Carreiro and even Luca Gasporotto may be too young yet as 95s.

Looks like some tough decisions for Dasa!

Camargo has been playing really well lately (To be fair, my sample size is just the June 17th and 22nd games). Also, I'd say both Paunic and his U-17 CB partner Duran Lee have been playing excellent (tall kid, seems composed, good long passer, very similar to Paunic's skill set, wears 42 and 24)

Wow, what an excellent squad. Wow, indeed. Especially considering the players eligible that haven't been called that are actually also committed to Canada. (I am of course referring to those few who are eligible for Canada u20 and are not playing - Aird, the Milano kids of which there are 2, and I think there are a few others).

Sorry to detract, but my point is this team appears to have some serious chops despite those who wish to play elsewhere. It's wonderful to see.

Esp great to see Aleman part of the squad as he has that extra bit of technical skill we need.

Who's the kid from Arsenal?

I was just joking.

A couple of weeks ago Daso was tweeting at some kid who plays in the Arsenal youth system. He tweeted 3 or 4 times for the kid to email him because the kid is from Edmonton. What Daso didn't realize is that Edmonton is not only a city in Alberta but a neighbourhood in London.

Thread here.

Who are the players who are committed to Canada who will likely be on this team not on that list?

Piette and Henry are eligible right?

What happened to Crepeaux? the u-17 gk?

Who else from the U-17 squad who looked good is off this list and what are their situations?

Was also going to point out Aleman's inclusion. Glad he's able to come back from Spain for this stuff...I wasn't sure he necessarily would, he has a serious upside

Piette's certainly eligible. The fact that he isn't at this camp has to be considered a good sign for his career in Europe.

Yes I agree and for Henry as well, just trying to get a picture of what our roster will be at qualifying if all hands are on deck.

@Villus - I listed the players who are eligible but have seemingly "turned their backs" on Canada - 1 player @ Rangers, 2 @ AC Milan. How "Canadian" these 3 actually are...I don't know. So I say "turned their backs" in jest.

Crepeaux has a long ways back from injury. Maybe he isn't ready?

Glad Henry and Piette are not here. As Lord Bob said, it bodes well for Piette (and Henry's first team careers they aren't released for this). The only others I can think of from the u17 team not here that maybe "should" be are Gasparotta (Rangers) and Hamilton (Toronto). Can't think of others off top of my head.
