Result of the Sunday June 24, 2012 W-League game

between Toronto Lady Lynx and Ottawa Fury

played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke at

1:00pm.

65 min...Fury Ashley Seal GOAL...OF Kelly Conheeney

takes 50 yard freekick from right that OF Mallory

Outerbridge deflects ball from center forward and

right with foot at 15 yards in crowd of players

to Seal who rolled ball into center of net from

8 yards on the right past goalie Lauren Kadat.

Final Score:......Toronto Lady Lynx.....0....

Ottawa Fury......1..............

Attendance was about 60 on this hot, humid,

mostly overcast afternoon. A light rain fell

for the last 20 minutes of the first half.

Jasmine Phillips earned the shutout for the

Fury. Both goalies had to make some important

saves.

Referee Michael Anthony Izzo gave out four Yellow

cards during the game that I counted--three for

the Fury--very rough play for a W-League match.

Best non-scoring chances were at 14 minutes when

TLL Jade Kovacevic take a cornerkick from the

right was sent out to TLL Adriana Leon at 28

yards who shoots through crowd of players and

goalie makes last second foot save. Kovacevic

gets ball back to her on deflection and blasts

shot wide left from 28 yards. 26 minutes had OF

Kelly Conheeney take a 32 yard freekick from the

left over to the right and 5 yard ball is knocked

down and goalie smothers point blank shot at

2 yards. 31 minutes TLL Kovacevic had a

35 yard freekick from right is into box knocked

around and finishes with goalie making catch

on 12 yard shot. One minute later OF Mallory

Outerbridge rushed down the middle chased by

a defender and chips 10 yarder over goalie that

bounces wide left of post. TLL were called

offside more than six times in the first half.

52 minutes had Kovacevic take a cornerkick from

the left had TLL Shannen Jainudeen on right heads

a 4 yarder wide right. 58 minutes had Kovacevic

rush on the right and send in a low cross from

20 yards that had TLL Kinley McNicoll miss

on a kick and TLL Adriana Leon blasted a 12 yarder

up the middle well over the net. 91 minutes had

TLL Alyscha Mottershead take a long throw-in from

the left had a TLL player flick a header across

the 6 yard box and the goalie swatted the ball away

from TLL Jainudeen before she can get a header

at 5 yards.

Lady Lynx didn't really have a lot of chances

in the last 20 minutes of the game. Their best

chances was the opening 20 minutes of the second

half. The first half was even but the Lady Lynx

were constantly offsiide on offensive rushes.

Lady Lynx record falls to 5-3-1 and are still

in the playoff picture.

Fury improves their record to 7-1-0 with their

only loss to Hamilton Rage in the second game

of the season. Yesterday they beat London

10-0 on their road trip. Their website brags

that they haven't lost a regular season game

except to the Lady Lynx for SEVEN years! I

guess they can say that because the Hamilton

Avalanche no longer exist. This year they host

the W-League final-four which may be harder

to win because from what I've heard a lot

of the defunct WSL league players have

made their way to American teams (not in this

6 of 7 team Canadian division).

Lady Lynx next game is Wednesday July 4th at

11:00am at Centennial Stadium.
