Result of the Friday June 22, 2012 CSL game between

Serbian White Eagles and Montreal Impact Academy

played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke at 9:00pm.

25 min...SWE YELLOW card...Boris Milicic earns it for

tripping MIA Yacine Ait Simane inside right side of

SWE box. Referee Yusri Rudolph orders a Penalty kick.

26 min...MIA Stefan Vukovic Penalty kick blast is

low to the middle and goalie Milos Durkovic crumples

to make save. Referee orders a retake (Vukovic

said after the game it was because SWE defender

Goran Vlaski had come into the box before shot

was taken).

27 min...MIA Stefan Vukovic GOAL...Vukovic blasts

Penalty kick low to left side of net as goalie dives

to right.

50 min...SWE RED card...Boris Milicic earns his

second Yellow card for pulling down MIA Stefan Vukovic

on run up right at SWE 25 yard line.

73 min...SWE Zoran Rajovic GOAL...SWE Viktor Anastasov

rush on left on break and pass is centered from

12 yards near left end line for sliding Rajovic to

elude defender and direct ball in from 5 yards to

center of net as goalie Jason Beaulieu was guarding

left post.

81 min...MIA Kai Morton GOAL...MIA Amine Meftouh

45 yard freekick from left has MIA Stefan Vukovic

head a 10 yarder from the right across the box

that Morton heads a 6 yarder down the middle that's

into left side of net.

Final Score:.....Serbian White Eagles.....1....

Montreal Impact Academy........2.....

Attendance was about 250 people on this hot night.

The crowd was really upset by offside calls that

SWE kept getting caught on even being sarcastic

yelling 'offside' for every pass play by both

teams. This mood started at 9 minutes when

SWE Zoran Rajovic for a 10 yard tap-in that was

called back. SWE got better at beating traps near

the end of the game and it was wide open rushes for

both teams.

Best non-scoring chances were at 20 minutes when

MIA Amine Meftouh took a cornerkick from the left

that was knocked around in the box which included

the SWE goalie flying over and catching a 3 yard

header on the left post. 71 minutes Zoran Rajovic

got to a through ball and chipped the goalie

from 25 yards from the left but the ball bounced

wide left of the net (two minutes later he

did score). 82 minutes had the MIA goalie punch

away a cross on the left post to prevent an

SWE player from heading it in.

The SWE defensive strain in the second half was

more pronounced (they'd only allowed two goals

all season until tonight) when after substituting

defender Sebastian Novais with forward Viktor

Anastasov at halftime, they had defender Boris

Milicic red carded.

SWE club official Dragon Bakoc told me during

the game that SWE 22 year old goalie Milos

Durkovic has an opportunity to sign with an

Austrian Division 2 team within the next few

days.

The league website pointed out the link between

Stefan Vukovic and SWE assistant coach Sasa

Vukovic as son and father. Stefan started his

career with the SWE youth team then crossed

over to TFC Academy for more full time training.

After leading the CSL in scoring last season,

TFCA released him as he'd passed (at the time)

their self-imposed age limit. He was picked up

by MIA who have an older limit on their Academy

roster.

This was a match-up of two of the last three

undefeated CSL teams...SWE with a 4-0-2 record

and 8-2 in goals for/against and MIA at 3-0-3

and 13-4 goals for/against.

Montreal's tough weekend continues when they

play the league's other undefeated team, Toronto

Croatia here at Centennial Stadium at 8:00pm.

(Croatia usually plays Sunday nights but MIA

as they do every year wants to play two games

in two nights to cut costs.

Highlights, match reports and an interview with Ryan Sciacccitano from the Toronto FC Academy vs Mississauga Eagles game last night:

Looks like Camargo is playing extremely well. Hopefully TFC can plan a good development pathway for him to the 1st team. ie better than what they did with Oscar Cordon.

Robin, how did Stefan Vukovic play?

People seem confused by the difference between TFC stating that they prefer to use u19s (in their justification for not retaining Vukovic, for example) with what the CSL permits them to do (which is, play anyone they want to). Yes, they have several returning university players, and have also brought in several older players from CIS and other CSL teams (Uni players under new coach Capotosto, for example)...does anyone know who's playing for their overage team, playing the exhibition series against OSL senior teams? I wonder if Street is playing in that? He hasn't actually played for the academy team, I believe... just turned out to back up Cavalluzzo(?)
