Soccerpro
What a fantastic performance by De Guzman. He played well. He really picked it up in the 2nd half and pushed the offensive tempo.
dpetzz
I think Mike K. is trying to be Canada's version of maldini with that hair look....if only he could play like maldini
madmonte
Nice to see some guys coming on to get a cap. Honestly, I don't know why people **** on De Guzman so much, to ME at least, this is how he plays for toronto week in, week out, I see no difference. Do the people that **** on him all the time even actually WATCH the full TFC games?

Soccerpro
Do people see the way Dero sucks the American defenders inside before playing the outside through ball to Pedro? It's small things like that which seperate him from other North American players.

BigMo
More DeRo brilliance wasted. DeRo and JDG came to play today, very encouraging from both of them.

madmonte
What a game! That was awesome! Good job Canada, a little lack of finishing touch, but the same can be said for the USA...wow. Looking forward to Cuba...
lazlo_80
This is usually a backhanded compliment but Canada played with heart tonight. Something they have often lacked in other years. You need alot of that to survive down south in those weird conditions.
SCF08
Fair result with an exciting end where both sides could have won it. I thought the first half was really poor but the second half was a big impovement. DeRo was disappointing and seemed not really focussed apart from a couple of flashes. Ante Jazic was my MotM...looked really comfortable against Donovan and got forward a lot more in the second half.

madmonte
Aye playing with that much hunger against Cuba and they don't have a chance. Our boys just have to bring that same hunger to all six games for WCQ.
Watchmen
Much more encouraged by the 0-0 draw than I would have been with 2-2 or 3-3. I'd have been more much more encouraged with 2-2 or 3-3. Scoring against a side like the US would have given them some confidence going in to Cuba, while conceding against the US wouldn't be embarrassing. The Beaver
The team played to the game plan and got a decent result. A goal would have been brilliant, mind you. Still, there were a lot of positives out there, including JDG, Jazic, Occean, the rest of the back four, Ricketts and Ledgerwood. Dero had some nice flashes but let us down a few times too many with errant passes. He has a big heart and is creative as hell out there, but sometimes I just wish he'd do a little bit less and made that killer pass. Sometimes he does, but not frequently enough. With that said, this was a strong cohesive team performance--a la the U23s v. USA--and I think Hart may have learned a thing or two from the Olympic qualifying foray. We still need to put the ball in the back of the net... Did we do enough to persuade Hoillet tonight? Or is he already gone?

Yeah, but the entire game plan was to play cohesive team defense, which they did very well and almost came away with the win. hard to knock that against a powerful US side. ob1
Great game tonight, i'm not sure why people think the first half was poor. Maybe the first 10 minutes but what do you expect from a team that hasn't played a high level game together in awhile. I'll be the first to admit I didn't think Ledgerwood starting was a good choice, but him Jazic and Edgar all looked really good today and Occean up front is just what we needed. I have a positive feeling that we will break through and score some goals in qualifying.
Gordon
Official attendance 15,247. I imagine some will take shots, but I think that is a decent turn out, and it did not seem like an away game either. I am gonna give out Kudos.

I am gonna give out Kudos. Agreed. And well done to the south end, which was in full voice. Several chants were clearly audible on TV, in particular "We're red / We're white / We're wearing blue tonight!"

madmonte
In a lot of cases if you listen around the stadium people complain that JDG doesn't score enough. Well he didn't when he was getting player of the year honors as well, particularly in La Liga. It's just a lack of understanding of what a holding mid is meant to do, and he does it exceptionally well usually, if sometimes a touch clumsy.
