Califax
I'm of the opinion we need to either ensure Maro is going to have enough staff to deal with us or pick a different spot. I know there are some boys on here who have a fondness for it or a lineage towards it, but they don't serve food and seem to either run out of beer or have insanely long lines. I don't think it's unfair that as a group we consider giving our business to a bar that can handle that many people. I'm also fully prepared for someone to take offence to this and tell me "if you don't like it, go somewhere else" the lines for beer are always inexcusable. We could easily book out the Brazenhead or many other establishments that both serve food and give timely service.

Whoa.... they are totally aware we are coming and staffing appropriately in opening up other bars. We are in talks for doing food as well.
RS
There's no way in hell the Brazenhead could handle as many people as Maro. And no, the lines for beer aren't *always* inexcusable at Maro. They underestimated the size difference between a Canada game (all the V's) vs. a TFC game (U-Sector plus some randoms). It happens.
Califax
Good, I'm up for giving them a shot to redeem themselves, I'm just saying I don't think we should give them a free ride if turns out like the last couple of times. The food thing is encouraging as well. Great atmosphere, but any first timers I brought were frustrated at the lack of food and understaffing. We are trying to sell the whole package after all. We agree with you. I have gone to every single bar in the area. No one has it size wise, or are not willing to have us, or require a very hefty minimum buy in or outright cost of rental. They are taking the risk, not us. They understand it will be very busy, especially for the Sunday game. If we get a BBQ set up and a pre party kickabout with the American Outlaws then they might need to open both floors.

Sir Alphonso Applegate
I brought a ton of 1st timers myself, and most loved the idea of all the V's at Maro and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I'm hoping this summer the folks at Maro continue to do a great job of letting us get primed at their place. And a pre-game BBQ before the US game is pure Genius. The beer lines for the St. Lucia game were totally way too long, but it happens and there were more of us there that game than the other 2. Against PR and St. Kitts the beer lines were fine I thought.

BuzzAndSting
I've enjoyed Maro. My only complaint would be that people seem too introverted. Everytime I bring somebody new they wonder why it seems like just a bunch of people standing in separate corners of the room getting tanked. Maybe we could come up with some sort of meet and greet activities. As far as the lines and stuff it's expected. I own a pub and there's nothing realistic Maro could do because everybody shows up at the same time. I find once the first round of pitchers is served it only takes a couple minutes after that. Not to mention it seems like everytime we go they get a few more wrinkles ironed out; running out of actual pitchers, no sign (we wondered around a bit the first time, etc...) michaeltfc91
Can we please please please set up a pre game march from whichever restaurant we are having the pre game at!?!? Nothing was better than marching to the stadium from Croc Roc before the Champions League Quarter Final game against LA and this time we will have an entire nation behind us

Last round before the St Lucia match I ended up slugging a couple pitchers on my own waiting for the people I knew cause I didn't know where to put myself. You know every group of people is the "one V" + his 4 buddies looking to get sloppy. So if you walk over and try and start a chat about Canadian footie, you're looking at a 20% chance of the person having a clue what you're saying. lol. We need "hi my name is " tags. Or perhaps since I booked off both days off after these matches, I'll just get stupid drunk and call out random strangers till I find someone from here. I like where this is going... As for the march, while we do it, I find that half the bar ends up stuck behind with drinks they just got and such. Need to time things better if we can, although I can't foresee telling the bar to stop selling beer is a fair option.

gator
A ****in men. We need "hi my name is " tags. I think that's a great idea, there are so many of you who have been at the pre games and I still have never met you over the years! Name tags would make things much easier and probably break up the little groups that congregate!

gator
I've never sat in the V's section before, do we actually identify ourselves somehow, or what? See that is the problem, it's rather hit and miss whether you meet fellow V's because who knows who's a V? At the Peru match I tried to hook up with Doug, (dsQPR) a fellow QPR fan and we never found each other at Maro, of course he didn't have a cell phone at the time which would have made it much easier but no one else knew him either as he's from Winnipeg! We have a better strategy this time so we can get together and discuss our team's relegation/survival! I think name tags would really help! El Hombre
I kinda like the name tag idea too. I was thinking of getting El Hombre on the back of my V's t-shirt, but name tags would work.
Olympique_de_Marseille
The problem with name tags is that they look really silly if only one or two people use them; everyone has to commit to having a name tag with their real and forum name. I propose the you-don't-get-beer-unless-you-have-one rule; while waiting in line at Maro's you put on your nametag! Thoughts?
