TT5
Just saw a couple tweets from Tyler Green from Team 1040 in Vancouver saying he's has Tam Nsaliwa on his show tonight and potential return to the national team. Can he still play for Canada? or no? Or can he again? https://twitter.com/#!/tylergreen1040/status/196654008344125441 https://twitter.com/#!/tylergreen1040/status/196654252649750528
finchster
No, he renounced his Canadian citizenship to obtain German. He cannot play for Canada

nolando
Can you summarize the interview for us? Getting the link seems unnecessarily convoluted.

Smapti
Here are the main points: -Signed with Danish D1 club because they are in a good spot to be promoted to the Superliga and he just wanted to play. He turned them down last year but decided to join for the remainder of the season. Will sign longer term once promotion is confirmed. -Agent contacted all 3 Canadian MLS teams but there was little interest due his lack of playing time. -He gave up his citizenship at the time because he wanted a german passport would have helped his career. He started the process to get back his citizenship almost as soon as he gave it up. Attempted twice on his own but paperwork errors derailed the process so he hired a lawyer to try a third time. Feels it is tougher for him to get it back as opposed to JDG2 cause he immigrated and wasn't born in Canada. Hart is aware of the process. Would love to represent Canada internationally. ThiKu
The MLS teams didn't want him but they sign guys like Floyd Franks, Miguel Aceval and Greg Klazura (positional differences aside)? Gotta be a financial decision as well.

I wonder with the growing success of MLS cases like this will now cease to exist for us. ... anyway, he showed what is more important to him. Didn't want to rep that bad. Didn't want to rep that bad. More like the CSA showed what was most important to them. If the stories are true, the CSA did **** all to help him through the process to keep his passport and stay eligible for Canada, so wtf is he supposed to do? He's shown that he's not wanted and has an opportunity that will greatly help his career. At the end of the day its the players job to look after his career, and its the CSA's job to do everything in their power to help out its players and keep the best talent eligible for our program. If I had a choice between representing my country or having a significantly better chance to make a living (and as noted above it shouldn't have even come to that decision) I'd drop my citizenship in a second too. I think you are probably correct. Tam had not lived in Canada for many years, and I believe his wife is German or from somewhere in Europe. Considering the benefits of an EU passport and a future life in Canada after soccer looking unlikely, I can understand why it would happen.
