Unbeaten Caps look for 5th straight Clean Sheet In San Jose

Recommended Posts

Big test tonight, taking on a winning club in there own buliding.

Caps riding some defensive momentum and consistency will go into Buck Shaw Stadium, looking to stay clean at the back once again. Hopefully bulging the net themselves a couple times.

Starting XI

VAN - Cannon; Lee, Bonjour, DeMerit, Harvey; Koffie, Davidson, Chiumiento, Thorrington; Le Toux, Hassli

subs Knighton, Watson, Salgado, Mitchell, Tan, Klazura, Camilo

SJ - Busch; Beitashour, Bernardez, Morrow, Corrales; Salinas, Cronin, Baca, Marvin Chavez; Wondolowski, Dawkins

subs Bingham, Ring, Stephenson, Moreno, Gordon, Hernandez, Opara

Looks like the Caps will throw out a 4-3-1-2/4-2-3-1 tonight.

No Lenhart for the 'quakes tonight should help us contain Wondo better.

Also side note Caps 62 minutes away from breaking MLS record for longest clean sheet streak to start a season, current holders 2007 NYRedBulls.

Nice to see a good supporting section of traveling caps fans too. Would of been a good weekend for a Cali trip.

Along with the clean sheet record it looks like the Caps are trying to break the record for most foreigners too...

How does Teibert not make the bench with Nanchoff and Rochat out?!?

True, but then winning is more important. I rather win with foreigners than lose with Canadians.

Harvey's inability to cross on the overlap is frustrating, but he's competent defending.

I could really care less what passports players have, a point is a point. Canadian players are a bonus.

So much for those V's who said Teibert might be starting if he didn't go away with the u23 squad.

he should be starting tonight in my mind, but if we take points away without him, how can you argue Rennie's decsion. Maybe Teibert has some fatigue, who knows, a knock from the tourney.

In the end until we lose how can you argue or question Rennie's decision making.

Backend has been very good, scary challenge by Bonjour nearly saw red.

Some movement forward has been good, Thorrington nearly found Hassli, and Hassli found Le Toux who nearly slipped a soft touch in.

Chavez out with a knock.

And wow, crossbar on an empty net.

Chiumiento has been superb again, so much creativity, Thorrington has hopefully put Watson out of the conversation for the foreseeable future.

Cannon, BOOM. Steals one from the top corner from Salinas in injury time.

another yellow for the 'caps Thorrington and Bonjour booked now.

Thorrington's miss may be the worst in recent memory. Plus I just don't like the guy because he's old and crappy.

What are you watching, Thorrington has been all over the pitch, he's been great. One miss, and then perfect Midfield play. Aggressive attacking solid at the back, and creating mistakes from SJ defenders.

What more can you ask, from an aging low cap-hit MLS vet. I'll take John of JDG today

Oh and Congrats record broken, Caps and Cannon/Knighton earn Longest clean sheet streak to start the season.

5 minutes later..

Ahhh, and the clean sheet over like that, Wondo Wondo Wondo.

1-1

I don't mean today's game, I'm not watching it. I mean every other time I watched him, ie mostly last year.

Our back 4 had a very bad night. Could have been 5-1 if SJ finished a couple of unmarked sitters. Oh well we have some time off and hopefully Rochat will be healthy and the back 4 will be back to their stingy ways. We really need to score more than one goal a game. Had a couple of great chances but only put one in the net. Time to start a new streak.

we have won, 2 games?

Your TFC lost to Montreal, buddy. so lulz yourself.

San Jose is a good team. We'll see how TFC fairs this year, compared to Vancouver.

I'm glad my post upset you. As soon as we figure out the issues with the center backs, TFC will knock the Caps out when they face each other...and when I mean out, I mean the f*ck out. :D

Upset, me. No not at all. Don't know why TFC fans have to give everyone a hard time for liking there own club, maybe cause they have to suffer MLSE for so long.

Canucks win the presidents trophy. Caps off to a encouraging start in their 2nd season, even the Jays look like they have promising season ahead of them.

Why would I be upset?

As for TFC and the Caps future meetings, I'd worry about getting past Montreal in your first tie, rather than looking ahead to VWFC.

If the CB problem isn't fixed by then you might not get to have that chance for your Chris Tucker impersonation to come true.

Yes Tiebert and Alderson, would garner tons of time on your club probably be your best players.

but then that says more about Montreal's skill level than Vancouvers.

Just saying but you guys seem real petty and jealous, over a game.

We are all Canadian clubs, I find it funny you guys hope for our demise. It makes no sense.

I know I personally don't hope for any Canadian club in any sport to fail. It's bad for Canadian sports in general.

My question was addressed to people who love Canadian football/soccer and who has knowledge about the matter.

The fact that you don't see enough value in Teibert and Alderson shows how much retarded you are. Thanks for trying anyway.

BTW, I cheer for TFC.
