Champions-League QF TFC-vs.-LA (2nd leg) (R)

I had to watch with Spanish commentary so may have missed the reshuffle, but was Morgan pushed into left midfield to provide protection to the leftback (was it Aceval)? The substitutes' names are obviously written the same en espanol but the picture was too small for it to be read.

Well that was sweet. Canadian champs defeat the American champs, so this is a victory for Canada over the US in soccer (and thankfully TFC actually plays some Canadians so it doesn't feel hollow at all to say that) - when was the last time we could say something like that. And while the officiating was dreadful, at least it was for both teams this time. TFC looked like they wanted it more, but this really bodes well for the upcoming season, even if LA is in pre-season mode (its not like TFC is in mid-season form either).

Only downside is the play of Harden (never mind the OG.....I don't think he could have completed a pass tonight if his life depended on it) & now Maund, who has looked fairly clueless out there and not looking anywhere near the player that Silva, the other draft pick is (I know he missed a glorious chance, but just barely). Hopefully Cann isn't too far off from recovery as I think he'll at least be an upgrade in that spot, unless he doesn't recover his previous form post-injury.

Good moves by Winter all around, I thought taking Plata off that early was a risk but it seemed to pay off as once we regained the lead it did seem like Dunfield was constantly intercepting the ball in the middle of the park. Great game by Johnson & Soolsma along with Kocic, the men of the match (not to slight Frings who was also a contender).

He made the best save in club history tonight. I am referring to the stop on Robbie Keane. Awesome stuff tonight.

It was a great save, though I'm pretty sure it was offside and should have been whistled down before that. But the linesman were fairly awful the whole night from what I could tell & TFC got away with one in the first half that looked ok to me.
