It's not only Michael Ballack, but Toni Luca of Juventus has been approached by the Montreal Impact. If this is true, this will be considered huge news in Montreal. By the way, I got wind of this rumor directly from Twitter.

Rai sport in Italy are also acknowledging this rumor. Once again its a strong potential rumor.

What are the possibilities that Joey Saputo makes the announcement with both Toni Luca and Michael Ballack together at a press conference next week.

Be good draw for the league, that's for sure. Doubtful either would perform particularly brightly. Ballack would be the better of the two if he brings a good work rate. Maybe they could change to a white/black kit as that's the only time anyone's seen him perform since his Leverkusen days! :)

Can you please change the title on this thread from Toni Luca to Luca Toni.

This is the time of year when old Euros start talking about retiring in MLS. But let them go to China or the Middle East for a cash grab.

If you notice, almost all of the MLS signings since the start of the off-season have been hungry and younger players from Central and South America. Sign old Euros at your own risk. During the summer you might be able to get a good one like Keane. But not now.

Ballack is one of my favourite players of all time. I would literally be compelled to cheer for Montreal every time they are not playing Toronto if this happened.

lulz, come on now. In the second of half of the 2007/2008 Prem season, Ballack was Chelsea's best player and took them to the Champion's League final where he unfortunately finished yet again as a bridesmaid. :(

Well considering his Leverkusen days are right now that is pretty good. I think Ballack would be a very good signing. Luca Toni would have been a good signing three years ago but I am doubtful that he is a good signing right now.

Hopefully his knee holds up.

That is a risk obviously but his two year contract with Bayer is running out and they were interested in re-signing him but he wants to go somewhere else. They would have a better idea than anyone what the condition of his knee is so the fact they were interested in re-signing him is a good sign.

That is a good sign. I hope Toronto swoops in and takes him ;). However, even with Frings being a factor, I don't think it will happen. While I can see Ballack fitting into Winter's system as he can adapt, he would be better off in a 4-4-2 where he can command the entire team.
