nolando
As I mentioned in another thread last week, it looks like Borjan is done at his Turkish side. Not sure how reliable of a source this is but: http://www.pressturk.com/spor/haber/42118/sivasspor-3-futbolcu-ile-yollarini-ayirdi.html Wish I knew what the hell happened there?!? This is way too close to the situation Lars had for my liking. Hopefully he can clear this up and move on to another club in time to be an established starter again for the WCQs. ThiKu
That seems odd. Things started so brightly for him there with clean sheets and the like...hmmmmm.... Whitecaps need a GK!
Oranje
Am I the only one who is hoping he hops onto a bus due west and becomes the back stop in Manisa?
Keegan
From the translation I read it seems like the club is having financial problems and is allowing players to look for their own clubs, but obviously it was a hack job

Yeah something about the situation there just doesn't look right. Milan had some strong outings (Fenerbahce, Galatasaray) but some poor ones too (Trabzonspor) - however, I don't know who would expect most keepers to be the finished product at 24, especially considering he's really only had one season starting between the posts, and not anywhere near a top league in Europe. Surely there would have been some bumps this season in his development considering it's the highest level he's played at. I would have expected more patience but the posts you put up last week with bizarre quotes from the team certainly were unsettling and not appearing to be the best situation for him to be in. I thought it was strange he decided to sign for one of the clubs involved in the match fixing scandals and perhaps over the last few months found himself in a situation not much different than Klukowski in terms of the overall club not being on the up and up. It will definitely be interesting to see how this unfolds and where he ends up.
Sam
We've seen too many CMNT starting keepers end up on the bench... really hope Borjan is out there getting minutes again soon.
guppy
I notice the team's goals against is second highest in the league. Not saying it's his fault.
nolando
Unless I've made a blunder here is a reputable article from yesterday interviewing him in Serbian. Doesn't mention him leaving imminently but does mentions club coming to look at him, specifically Celtic, Rangers and several clubs in Holland and Germany, after the great perfromance vs Galatasaray. Maybe a Serb speaker can give us more insight. And unless google translate is WAY off it is mentioned that he is playing a friendly vs Australia in London in February. Is this a Canada match?!?! http://fcrad.co.rs/fk.rad/component/content/article/53-bivi-igrai/307-sultan-borjan-u-latino-ritmu.html

Great performances have again caught the eye of big Scottish teams - Celtic and Rangers, as well as a few clubs from Germany and the Netherlands. Borjan has also had 5 matches with Canada, and a new challenge awaits him in February... - Some people have already said they would come and watch me play. At the beginning of February, there's a scheduled friendly with Australia, and that's in London, and I'm happy about this new challenge in my career. My parents live in Canada and this is the way I want to repay the people and country of the Maple Leaf, which took us in like we were native born Canadians - says Milan Borjan who doesn't hide his gratititude toward Canada. It doesn't say whether it's a Canada friendly vs Australia or whether his Turkish team is playing it, but it seems to imply it's Canada.
maccaliam
^ Reading that translation, it is impossible not to love that man! How brilliant would it be if he were to work his way into a starting spot on one of the old firm sides, or a top German or top dutch side.
Cheeta
Nice find, couple of very interesting bits to be sure. Certainly does sound as though he's referring to a Canada friendly in February doesn't it? Not a Forster fan, not at all, but would be surprised (happily so) to see Borjan in Hoops any time soon. Giant lad, they love keepers like that in Scotland, and can probably be had on the cheap, they love players like that at Celtic, so who knows? Would be wonderful if it happens and a great interest story for the media.
Obinna
I was snooping around the Celtic Wikipedia page to get some info on there keepers. One is an English keeper on loan from Newcastle. The other is a Polish keeper who has only has 1 international cap, and has appeared 19 times for Celtic since 2009. Bojan to Celtic kind of makes sense, unless I am missing something it doesn't appear like they have the best keeper situation right now.
JamboAl
Forster may have a hard time breaking back into the Newcastle lineup with Krul and Harper already established while Zaluska was a disaster before he was dropped. Celtic also have the American, Domenic Cervi, who is out on loan at Morton. If Forster goes back at the end of the season, Celtic may well be interested in another keeper especially if they find Zaluska still not good enough; that could be Borjan or a number of other keepers out there (e.g. Kello at Hearts who I will say right now is more reliable than Borjan). Guest Brethers
realistically Harper is getting on and Forster is young, so I don't see him being Forster's problem. I would say Forster probably would leave as he's behind Krul and I'm sure Celtic would sign him if possible. Kello is also a good keeper and already in Scotland. But Rangers also need a new keeper, Alexander is getting on now and he has never been the best, and McGregor is really starting to slip now so Milan could find his way there. I'm so excited if we are playing Aus in London, I'm so going if this is true!

They don't and were gunning hard to try and sign Grzegorz Sandomierski in August but Genk beat them to him at the last minute. I think Turkey is a much better league in terms of level of play, but Celtic would give him lots of European competition experience which would hopefully pay off internationally. CanadianSoccerFan
There have been some rumblings of McGregor leaving Rangers so that could open up a spot.
jordan
There have been some rumblings of McGregor leaving Rangers so that could open up a spot. I don't expect this to happen even though Malaga was looking. I don't think he will go unless 8 mil comes in, and he just resigned this summer a 6 year deal. Bear in mind that Kenny Stamatopoulos (sp?) claimed to be a Bayern Munich signing target at one point. The time to get excited is when pen hits the paper on an actual contract. There may be an element of truth to what he is saying but a big part of it could be generating a bit of hype to make himself look good in Serbian circles in the hope he gets the best possible offer from a team there. Hope it all works out for him.

Hope it all works out for him. I was actually referring to how he said how Canada has helped his family and how he wants to repay that by performing well for our national side. He said that in a foreign language newspaper based in a foreign country, so I get the impression he truly feels that way and is excited to play for Canada, and as I have said, it is impossible not to love him! As for his future club situation, I was just saying how if he were to sign with one of those sides and become a number one for them, it would be fantastic. I admit, that's an obvious statement that didn't really need to be said, but it still stands true - it would be great- though, I am under no illusion that he is being sought after by true European heavyweights.
