CONCACAF Champion's results at the Club World Cup

For the second year in a row the CONCACAF Champion has been knocked out in their first game. A CONCACAF club hasn't even finished third since 2005. I've been expecting a much better showing. Are CONCACAF clubs just not that good?

We seem to always be a small step behind the African and Asian clubs in this tournament. Monterrey did win the 5th place game beating Esperance. Pachuca also lost their first game last year but won the 5th place game. Makes me think is it the pressure on the global stage that's getting to CONCACAF ?
