Canada Draws United States, Cuba, El Salvador in Olympic Qualifying

I hope we play the States first to hit them with an early surprise and Cuba last once all their players have defected

Yeah I hope we get the US first to. Last time around we got Mexico first and shocked them with an opener in the 3rd minute or something (from Will Johnson IIRC), then pulled off the draw.

^ The Yanks have added 3 or 4 Germans in the last year fathered by US soldiers stationed there (Jones, Chandler, Fabian Johnson (?), and pretty sure there is another younger guy), not to mention "Traitor Teal".

Danny Williams is the other i believe...

This was as good of a draw as we could have hoped for, i figure we have a better than even chance to advance out of the group. Once/if we're on to the semi's then it's a one off with the Mexicans. Despite having Gio, Carlos Vela and Ulises Davilla likely unavailable, the rest of the squad is based in Mexico (plus Jonathan dos Santos at Barca B) and will be available. We'll be in tough.

It's just an evaluation camp in December. The final roster will be named in March from these players

I believe that the Americans have been in Europe already for a Olympic Camp.

If Canada wants to qualify at least once for a major Men's Tournament it will require at least 3 camps between now and March, proper training and games de-selection of the pool. Tony Fonseca, besides S. Hart are probably the only 2 ethical, knowledgable coaches involved at CSA.CSA should throw money at this Tourney,so we don't have to watch the "women" being there again and no Men.

We probably shouldn't be so worried about the Americans, whether we get a result against them is less important IMO then it is to beat ES (and to a lesser extent Cuba). El Salvador beat Guatemala and Panama during qualifying (Panama beat the undermanned Ticos, so if they need to be respected...). They have a number of players with senior caps on their U23 team and almost all of their players have pro experience in the ES Primera. Their midfield looks to be solid and their top striker Lester Blanco is going to be a handful for our backline.

No doubt, the players will have to work for this. If Teibert can get back to full fitness I think this tournament could be his breakout.. I thought on the U20s teams keyed in on him a lot and it was tough for him to find space (mind you he still had 2 assists vs Guadeloupe) but I think with the other players around him he'll have more space to operate.

Found the schedule on ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/7333283/us-soccer-olympic-qualifiers-set-nashville-kansas-city

"The U.S. will face Cuba (March 22), Canada (March 24) and El Salvador (March 26) in the first round."

So that means we play ES, USA and Cuba in that order.

Nice to get Cuba last when we'll probably need a last minute scenario vs. a team with 2 guys on the bench.

If we get no worse then a draw against ES then we're in position to lay it on large against Cuba like we did against Guate last time around and go through as #2.
