ThiKu
Saw a tweet by Oscar Cordon tonight. He was invited to a u20 camp next month. I didn't do any research for details etc. CSA tends to release rosters for these though. Nice to see the u18's go to Costa Rica and get 3 games, and now the u20's getting a chance. Hopefully this means u23 camp shortly after...
Keegan
Time to speculate... I'm sure Alderson, Henry, Vukovic, Stanese, Crepeau will be invited but the real question is: Will Aleman be on the roster? My bet is that he isn't on the Canada or Costa Rica roster and instead uses the club excuse
ThiKu
Yep, speculation is fun in this regard. Would JdC be eligible? He's 19...but I realize the Russian team wouldn't need to release him outside of international window.... I would expect all the Impact, Whitecaps, and TFC youngsters get invited as they are off-season. Does FCE have any bright youngsters? Maybe this Haeden lad from RSL gets a call-up?? My question is - what bright university kids might deserve a call? Without pouring through the MOACA list I wonder what other Euro-based players such as JdC might get asked (but not necessarily released by club).... I expect the club excuse from Aleman - except he has a fairly genuine excuse as it isn't an international window.
Lord Bob
The Whitecaps U-18 and U-16 teams will be playing in Florida from December 2 to December 5; wonder if there's any correlation there.
ThiKu
No - Caps are at the USSDA Showcase. I don't know when the u20 camp is - but if it's after the 5th I'd expect the Whitecaps USSDA u18 guys to get a call.
Guest uno
Would JdC be eligible? He's 19...but I realize the Russian team wouldn't need to release him outside of international window.... in December he's still eligible, but is there a point to call Joe up if he turns 20 in January and will not be eligible to play for U20 next year ? and in December he will be on vacation, already, for a few weeks, so no club matters at this time for him. ThiKu
Well, it keeps CSA watching him and assessing him, I guess is my point. Then again, if there is a u23 camp in the new year he could be a part of that. Which might be more appropriate.
Ivan
Joe is a 92, therefore not eligible for the next edition of our U20s.
ThiKu
Yes, Uno said that. Just a nice way to keep an eye on him and assessing him....like I said - more appropriate for u23 call though.
jpg75
This would technically be a U18 camp (the other "U18" camp is actually for U16's/'95's)... I would expect to see the likes of Crepeau, Stanese, Alderson, Henry, Cordon, Murrell, Makabuya, Fisk, Morris, Essa, etc. Will be interesting if Ricky Gomes graces this squad with his exalted presence, or is he still holding out for Portugal? Either way, we've got a few other decent goalies at this age...
Bertuzzi44
So I guess our most dangerous u17 player, Aleman, is "gone"?
Keegan
So I guess our most dangerous u17 player, Aleman, is "gone"? The latest we've heard is from his agent who says he's still with Canada
A_Gagne
So I guess our most dangerous u17 player, Aleman, is "gone"? Guys seriously, we must have some kind of a complex (e.g. PTSD or something) when half this discussion is fretting about the publicly denied possibility of loosing a player to 64th ranked Costa Rica. canucklefan
Guys seriously, we must have some kind of a complex (e.g. PTSD or something) when half this discussion is fretting about the publicly denied possibility of loosing a player to 64th ranked Costa Rica. It is not a complex, it's based on what we hear/read from the players in the media. So I'd say it's people who can read "between the lines" rather than having a "complex". Some of you might think that talking about this kind of issues is destructive rather than helpful, but making a taboo of it, do you think that's going to be more helpful than destructive? Lord Bob
WHY DOESN'T KEVEN ALEMAN LOVE US?! (eats entire tub of ice cream)
ThiKu
^you win the message board. Aleman: No one has said he is called or not called. None of the squad, except Cordon, seem to have mentioned anything. If he bolts to CR - OK. I'd love to see Alderson man-mark him to oblivion the first time they play.
