peter_mtl
I was hoping somebody could clarify this for me. I've read that for a player to get a work permit to play in the U.K., they have to come from a nation in the top 70 of the world rankings. I've never really understood this since we have been out of this range but have had players in England and Scotland. Can somebody explain this to me? Were we in the top 70 when Jackson and others got their permits? The reason I started wondering about this is because I took a look at Canada's projected rankings for November on http://www.football-rankings.info/. They have us at 72. Maybe a win in St. Kitts would have put us above the 70 threshold - whatever that means. I would assume it means that it would be easier for our guys to get U.K. work permits but since we already have some playing there, I'm really confused. Not sure about accuracy but Jackson moved in with his granny to London I think as a teen and wouldn't need a permit for that and the other guys I believe has European passports (Dhodds, Haber etc) and if not players would need to be given a work permit.
