JAVIERF
Next squad should be the last double header for Canada it makes sense for the CSA and the MANAGER to have 25 players at least arround to have a look at them , and also use this path to have a look for what is gonna come.... there is a certain that canada is almost there , so a big squad now...is going to save money for next time arround and will bring some fresh faces to compete for places SOMETHING LIKE 3 GK 9 DEF 8 MID 5 FW Regarding yesterday's game the CSA title is correct CANADA HAS ELIMINATED A RIVAL ...which is the result after all .., with a 4 team group is really hard to get result is really so HARD ...WE ARGENTINA lost yesterday aT VENEZUELA in a fair 1-0 loss that could have been BIGGER with messi ( messy) and all the trickster arround we were plain and outplayed THIS IS THE WORLD CUP you may not win all the games. the most important in this 4team groups is not losing , and getting points as TRAPPATONI says ,., I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE FANS HARSH CRITICS ...canada is doing well , QUALIFYINGS ARE HARDER THAN THE WORLD CUP... FRANCE was ****e yesterday as usual and needed another bad call to get the point the needed, regarding next squad should be the biggest now, bar injury to call the best players arround and some new guys to provide some depth....i would like to see friend back again as de jong,.... Embrace the result at least Canada is playing with an idea, and with passion...things will come....i hope JDG 2 and HOILETT make themselves available for selection...... YESTERDAY'S VENEZUELA listed a basque player AMOREBIETA ....that was born in venezuela but BILBAO ATHLETIC did not want him to play international football for Venezuela, until BIELSA came along ...he realized that his chances with SPAIN were small and yesterda he scored the winner vs argentina...I THINK someday the toll will fall with jonathan and HOILETT and will be ready to play for canada it is time to make them proud of being in the national team ....that depends of the manager ,. the player and the current club..... best regards javier from France

David C.
I'm not sure that a large 25-man squad is the way to go in November. With a tight budget, resources could be better spent next Spring/Summer. With the Gold Cup and Fall qualifying, Hart has seen all of our main players recently, except for Bernier. Calling players just to sit on the bench (after long flights from club teams) won't help. Getting top players back healthy and developing faster-paced distribution and attacks should be the focus. gator
The first match is in St. Kitts, if we get a result there we can let some of the starters go back to their clubs and use a bunch of younger guys for the November 15th match at BMO! Naming a large squad would allow us to do that!
jrue17
^^ Agreed... Prepare for the worst(not clinching in the first game) but hope for the best(win the first game and clinch then get some players experience)
Free kick
But i thought that FIFA dictates the maximum size of the squad that you can have for any international match (WCQ, or WC). you can call a 23 man squad as far as i recall and thats what every manager calls up. You cant call 25 man or women squad for a WCQ

Bully
But... if Hart calls more players how is he going to find an excuse to put Dunfield on? This. On a side note, if Canada wins this group, who is in our next group and when do we play.
Blackdude
One thing Javier, we don't have the money that the Argentina or Ireland has and getting a flight to some little island in the Carribbean is not cheap by any mean.

YOU do what Venezuela did ... vs Ecuador or the USA. when selecting a team .....you take 18 from the 25/26 players to the match and leave at home with some part of the staff . 8 or 10 players in the camp, for the return game... that is 72 hs later......maybe the less experienced.... ones .... as i said before canada is going sto save money if they call up a big squad for this matches ....since there is no fifa window in december i think...until march ..next year ...the last window is 11/15.... a 25/28 player panel is the best thing for canada to end 2011 in a high note

Sam
Call up 20 + 3 domestic youth players like what was done with Morgan this last time around. You aren't really spending much more cash to bring them from overseas... Also I'd like to see a serious North American evaluation camp this January down in Florida. Call in the best 30 North American based players for a two week camp. Make it clear if you are not at this camp you are not in the NT future for WCQ (unless there is a legitimate injury of course). Bring down all the young kids, veterans and see what works. A sample size this big is bound to bring out a few surprises, let's see if we expand that depth chart with some readymade replacements domestically in case we run into injuries close to a game. Plus Hart would get a much better look at the academy kids and what they can bring to the National Team and if they are really better suited for Canada than the older players as is being suggested on here.
