OUA Semifinal #1

York University (aka SC Toronto) 1-4 University of Toronto

5' - York goal - own goal

11' - Toronto goal - Ezequiel Lubocki

25' - York missed PK - Alon Badat

60' - York red card - Branko Majstorovic

61' - Toronto goal (PK) - Ezequiel Lubocki

76' - Toronto goal - Geoffrey Borgmann

90'+2' - Toronto goal - Jermaine Burrell

Oh yeah!!! I'm thrilled but, I have to admit, also shocked at this result. I didn't expect a UofT win, never mind such a performance, as they were missing their top two scorers (Mario Kovacevic to suspension and Darragh McGee (who, as mentioned previously, is also their best all-around player and the two-time OUA East MVP) to injury) and beating York was always going to be tough regardless (not to mention the 2010 OUA Final revenge factor). UofT's third and fourth goals came at least partially as a result of being up a man and York pushing forward, and the fourth was fluky as a York clearance deflected off Burrell and into the net, but nevertheless they thoroughly controlled the second half and were excellent defensively -- I missed a few minutes but I saw York coming close to scoring just once. I also missed all of the first half, but Gord said UofT keeper John Smits had little to do after stopping the PK (he stopped a York PK in the OUA Final last year as well, not to mention two more in the shootout and two in the shootout against Ryerson last week -- glad to have him back from injury), so a great victory overall!!! We took the downtown last week and the rest of the city this week!!! ;) Wish I could have been there for this one.

If you're referring to the CIS Men's Nationals, Cape Breton is not confirmed yet. The AUS semi-finals are kicking off as I write this. The winners of those games advance to Victoria.
Cape Breton qualified as the regular season champion. The other AUS spot goes to the playoff champion (SMU or UPEI). I like this system (given the balanced regular season schedule).

Last-minute drama in Ottawa as McMaster tie it up! And then appear to win it in injury time as they put the ball into the Carleton net but it's called back for a handball. McMaster had also put the ball into the Carleton net at 1-1 but it was called for offside.

Heading to extra time:

Carleton 2-2 McMaster

7' - McMaster goal - Mark Reilly

31' - Carleton goal - Josh Dewar-Morris

65' - Carleton goal - Samuel McHugh

90' - McMaster goal - Mark Reilly

And 2-2 after regulation between Carleton and McMaster. Goal for McMaster in the 90th. Carleton dominated until the last 10 mins of the 2nd, then suddenly looked like they were holding on for dear life. McMaster had a goal called back for handling the ball in the 93rd. Extra time to start shortly.

Excellent game calling too btw. Nice that you're letting us know the time a lot too, many of the SSN commentators don't do that at all.
Indeed, excellent as always. And thanks for the shoutout to the Voyageurs (which I guess means sulfur and me -- anyone else here?).

Carleton and McMaster going to PKs now. Trivia: McMaster won 4 consecutive PK shootouts in winning the 2009 OUA Championship, including the semifinal over Carleton.

That was an interesting move by the AUS to allocate their 2nd spot to the regular season champion. After looking at their playing regs, it's a 2 year pilot. Their schedule isn't completely balanced though. You face some schools only 1 time.

Watching the SMU/UPEI game 2-0 Huskies in the 1st half.

Gotta say though the Cape Breton Health and Recreation Centre looks like a fine venue must seat 3,500? Hard to tell with the camera behind the stands.

Commentators saying only UdeM has a grass field now in AUS?

Even last years AUS Championship tourney in Moncton was moved to the turf field due to torrential rain.

Interesting that the facility operators removed the portion of the track from where players enter from the tunnel.

No, looking closely the track has been covered with turf at the entry point.

It's hard to watch the game when there's only one camera and it's behind the stands and they rarely zoom in! But at least it's easier to see without the blizzard.

Also 2-0 at halftime in the OUA bronze match, York over Carleton. I missed the first goal; the second goal was a PK, literally the last kick of the first half. The camera work is really good at Keith Harris, but unfortunately Gord is not our commentator for this game; his replacement, who I've heard before, annoyingly calls all the Carleton players by their last names and all the visiting players by their first names.

Ah yes, you're right, it's not balanced, I didn't look carefully enough.
