- Rickett's Timisoara played to a scoreless draw with UTA Arad in Romania's second tier. Looks like he played 90 and had a number of good scoring chances.

- In Singapore, Webb's Hougang United beat Geyland 2-1 although he wasn't one of the goalscorers. Apparently he has set the club's single season record with 16 goals. Reports also indicate he is a winger - Stephen Hart take note. Apparently he is on the radar of the new Singapore Lions club which will play in the Malaysian League next year.

- Al-Shaibani and Nimes beat Niort 3-2. Nimes have clawed their way up to fifth in France's third tier.

- Still waiting for Uccello's name to start showing up on squad sheets again as Crotone drew Vicenza 2-2 at home.

- Alex Marello got some leftover minutes as BV Veendam kneecapped AGOVV Apeldoorn to the tune of 4-0. He came in on min. 82 after all goals were scored.

- Ornoch was on the bench for Telstar's 7-3 dismantling at the hands of FC Zwolle.[TABLE=class: jsnoborders]

SIMEON JACKSON is ON vs. Man Utd in the 73rd minute !

Hopefully today helps him get into the team more I thought he looked good today. With Man United up 1-0 late Simeon sent in one of his teammates on the left who didn't get all of his effort, Man United made it 2-0 a little later. Simeon also had a nice quick turn, little burst and shot late on with his left foot that went wide of the right post.

Thought he looked good... seems he's getting used to the pace of the prem league... Thought he made good decisions... didn't try to do too much... took his chance(s)... hopefully considering the opposition and the venue... this might prompt a further look, maybe even a start against beatable opposition.

Which would be good for him... he is a decent poacher... doesn't provide too much in build up play at this level... so without good service... don't know if we can expect that much more from him.

Simeon Jackson comes on as a sub as Norwich loses to man utd 2-0

And hoilett (Blackburn) lost to man city 4-0

Hoilette played 90 minutes.

In League Championship, David Edgar played 90 minutes in defense (I'm not sure if he played as a SB or CD) for Burnley. They won 1 - 0 against Millwall.

- Stama started for AIK in a 2-1 win over GAIS

- Borjan is presumably injured as he wasn't in the squad for Sivasspor away to Antalyaspor

- Poz started but was subbed out at the half after he picked an early yellow card in Haugesund's 1-1 away draw with Viking

- No Di Chiara in the lineup for Samara today as they lost 1-0 to FK Rostov

- No Misiewicz in the squad for Polonia Bytom as they lost 2-1 away to Bogdanka Łęczna. Not sure what has happened there.

And a few days ago many people were expressing the opinion that Jackson wasn't going to get any playing time and should take a loan to the Championship. The psychosis of being a Voyageur! :)

Vaughn the striker they brought in this year had a knee injury last game and will be out for a few months at least. If he does'nt get hurt not sure Simeon makes the bench or gets in. With that said I thought Simeon looked very good for the 15 minutes he got, and hopefully he will be in Lamberts plans more going forward, in soccer its all about seizing the opportunities and Simeon has shown the ability to do that throughout his career.

Injuries are very common in soccer as are strikers getting off form so there was no reason to think that because Simeon did not make the bench one week (for reasons we do not even know) that he won't get chances later on.

There is also absolutely no reason to think that Vaughan was going to keep Simeon out of the lineup if he wasn't hurt. He is not some top notch EPL striker, indeed Norwich has not one established Premiership striker in the team. Vaughan had a decent run of 4 goals in 14 games for Everton as an 18 year old 5 years ago and since then struggled to get on the pitch and was not very good when he played until last year in which he had a decent but not outstanding season in the Championship with 9 goals in 30 games, very similar numbers to Jackson. So far this year he did not score in the 3 games he played in before getting injured. The situation in Norwich is almost perfect for Jackson, the level of competition at striker has not really increased over last year. Norwich did not buy higher calibre strikers than Jackson in the offseason but rather more strikers of a similar calibre to him. He has more competition but not necessarily better competition than last year. Norwich is hoping one or more of these strikers will step up and show that they are EPL quality but Jackson has as much opportunity as the others to do so, he just has to take advantage of his chances.

I also liked what I saw in his runout. Nice setup for a sitter his team-mate basically whiffed on, and a good connection on a shot unfortunately to near the keeper.

I don't know what point your trying to make here. Fact is they have 6 strikers listed on their roster, Jackson has played 7 and 17 minutes in 7 premier league games and has'nt been on the bench for a few games. So up to this point he has'nt had as much opportunity as others because he has'nt made it onto the field. So it seems the coach has a few players above him including Vaughn, most times when a coach goes out and brings a player in he does it with something in mind and that player usually (maybe undeservably so) gets game time, I've seen it happen many times, now Simeon has more of a chance to get into games probably and hopefully shows what hes capable of.

I was one of those many people and I'm very pleased he got into the match today against a top class opponent, especially before our next WCQ match! It's not as if he has played much this year though and when he doesn't even make the bench it seems to me he is far down the pecking order unless there was an injury we didn't know about! I would just hate to see him inactive at this stage in his career as Edgar was for so long and if in fact he isn't going to get minutes at Norwich a loan would be a good thing IMHO!

Must say I'm not altogether impressed by any of Norwich's summer signings at Forward. They are althetic... but not much else. Morrison and Vaughan are like clones strong, fit .. 'cept one gets injured and Chris Martin... seems like he might be a cry-baby... but only based on that ridiculous wiffled cross at the end of the game...

I'd like to see Jackson and Holt start.. I think they play well off each other and share an a common opportunistic predatory instinct... which all strikers need.

That being said... don't think Simeon has '90 in him at this level... not yet anyway... but maybe '45 against a mid to bottom table team... who knows.

Certainly think he showed better than the other guys against man U.

My point is he was going to get his chance whether or not he was the favourite at the beginning of the season. A few days ago people were calling for him to loan out to a Championship side and now he gets a decent run against ManU. Norwich did not sign any really impressive strikers so he was in a pretty good situation and bound to get a look unless a couple of them got really hot, which can always happen but so far has not. Jackson may or may not prove himself to be a Premiership striker but you can say the same about every other striker at Norwich, they do not have a proven Premiership striker. The coach may have favourites or whatever criteria but based on accomplishments there is no striker on the team that one could say Jackson should be stuck behind.

As an offside, I think Norwich did the right thing by taking a flier on a few unproven and by EPL standards cheap strikers. They need to make sure they do not overspend and put the club into debt and realistically they need to get lucky with a few players to stay up so why not realize this at the beginning and take a few chances.
