What I've never understood in these situations is how can someone that speaks English, moves to Spain for their kid and try and find good work somehow so you can support your family there. Does the team pay for them to live?

But other than that, this isn't out of the ordinary. If i recall correctly, just recently Real Madrid signed a 7 yeard old Argentinian boy.

Essence of the story is that Dad just thinks his boy is having a kick out after flying to Barca to watch the team play, and pick up the championship trophy.

Its not organised. No fees have been paid. It just a "well fancy that" type of story.

Also, as the guys a Barca fan. He may speak fluent spanish/ catalan. (Spanish Language is a common option in English Schools)

although I did not get the impression that the father said they was moving there. Even though Barcalona is a georgous city.

Oh for sure, I know it's not official yet, but I've always wondered how the parents manage in the case a contract is signed.

The kid "wandered up" and joined in a game, after flying in to watch Barcalona play. He got spotted by the coaches who were there assessing the local kids, and was asked to stay on another night so they could take a further look.

The coaches may well have just been kind to the kid on his birthday, and may not be able to offer him anything even if they wanted to. If I recall there was a FA edict that scouting could only occur within a geographical limit so that the kids stay close to home. Uefa may have rules on this sort of thing as well.

How this all works with a seven year old in this situation is beyond me.

That been said, I believe Messi came to Baraca as a young kid for the argentine . So If anything his personal cicumstances would be a guide as to how Barca handle their young foreign talent.

^ As long as the parents move with the kid there's nothing but immigration laws stopping them from moving.

BTW, looks like the trial is with the pay-to-play Escola academy, so not really a huge deal (Jeffrey could confirm this)...

A little bit more indepth news from those reliable Lads at sky sports...

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,12193_7024752,00.html

They reference theacademy in question as the "la messia" (sic) which I think is the FC Barcalona youth set up, and may not be the Escola outfit.

Point of note which may be throwing people regading money may be is Dads comment "do you think its worth it?"

I don't believe he is talking about a monetary cost but rather using a common British idiomatic expression shortened from, "Do you think its worth the time and effort to ask and get involved?"

This is rather borne out by the following comment of "well what's the worst they can do ? Say no?"

Intresting dad's no slouch on the coaching front either. So I think a bit of 'blagging' possibly went on with the Barca coaches.

As for the trial on the following saturday, who can say.

Intresting site I think. www.ffaclubs.webs.com
