ThiKu
That's great! Hopefully it improves his touch and movement. Cuz we need all the forwards we can get!

Bully
good stuff, is this the first confirmed (or close to confirmed) move by anyone on the U-17 team? I saw an unconfirmed tweet about Aleman signing in Spain? Kwalton15: "AHHH rising Canadian Midfielder Keven Aleman Stays in Spain to sign contract." No idea if this is legit. TripleA
I'd rather Aleman turn out for the Whitecaps, less of a chance of Costa Rica swooping in that way He's played in a World Cup for us it's hard to think he would switch sides after doing that. TripleA
Tell that to De Jong and Begovic... This is true but the whole Begovic thing is shrouded in secrecy and rumours. What's the deal with De Jong?
Keegan
This is true but the whole Begovic thing is shrouded in secrecy and rumours. What's the deal with De Jong? If De Jong was good enough he wouldn't be playing for us. As you may know he played for us at the 2005 U20 WC but early in 06/07 season he was playing the typical Canadian fence sitter game and continued to do so until late September 2007 when he had to make a decision since he was turning 21 the next month, he then got his first cap vs. South Africa in November. Grizzly
This is true but the whole Begovic thing is shrouded in secrecy and rumours. What's the deal with De Jong? There is absolutely no secrecy or rumours in the Begovic situation, he is simply someone without morals who betrayed us.

I think there is more to this story. None of it's public, of course, at least not yet. I'm still not ever going to understand or accept what he did but this was more than a straight up selfish move like the one Owen ********** made. I guess the end result is he turned his back on us and lied but it's muddier than it appears.
James
Great move for Jalali! Kaiserslautern has been a good stop for quite a few Canadian players in the past, I hope Sadi can take advantage of the opportunity. He's a great kid from what I hear and has a terrific attitude. One of the CSN guys - maybe Rollins? - had done a piece suggesting threats etc. But honestly James, seeing Begovic's pro career and the way in which he has handled that, I think Grizzly has nailed it. jpg75
After what Bunbury did, i don't think anyone should be safe from skepticism...that said, not sure how much choosing the Whitecaps instead of Europe would prevent Aleman from jumping ship if that's what he wanted to do. Rollins should work for some sort of tabloid where the neighbourhood dog can bark him some dirt that he can publish as from a "reliable source". Wingback6
I disagree... There are two parties to blame for this situation... the CSA as it was at the time and Dale Mitchell... end of story... What was OFFERED if anything was playing time... that is the only difference and at the end of the day... the only thing that matters for an athlete. And we can thank the previously mentioned for why that was never offered and we have a (loyal) veteran Goaltender who plays in Scandinavia as our #1 vs a goaltender STARTING!!!!!!!!!!! in the Premier whose talent nobody in a position of authority had the competence to recognize. The starting goalkeeper of Portsmouth at that time was David James. He became starter than Bosnia came calling.

Leave Mitchell out of this. Last time he called Begovic that was in November 2008 and Asmir was at Yeovil in L1 and under the FIFA rules at that time Asmir was cap-tied to Canada. DM had no reason to play him.
