The Importance of Jr. Hoilett

Actually I was referring to the fact you left out a preposition in the original post, "in", so I thought; so it seemed you were saying that you had family members, but in-laws, with reading capacities, and was suggesting they had read about this transfer.

Shit joke I admit.

Sorry, that's how you sometimes say someone's an supporter.  I am West Ham.  They are Reading.  Rather than where they live which happens to also be true. Confusing I admit, looking back, but intentional.

I read your post and immediately started listening to this:

It seems a pretty young team, looking into them a bit more.  Junior has the chance to do what he does with Canada, I think: provide some class on the ball and maybe give some leadership and professionalism in key situations.

Looking forward to caring about a team in the Championship again. (I can't make myself with Sheffield United and Jebbison for a couple reasons.)

Watched from when he came on (62').  Tough game, Reading under pressure for most of it and he looked lost, jogging about aimlessly at points.

Coventry scored in the 8th minutes of added time for the win after +6 minutes being put up, but the Reading staff were in the face of the ref and getting carded through the 6 minutes.

Some agricultural football on display.

Hopefully better things to come when he is fully integrated.

Currently watching him against Middlesbrough. Up against his old manager Neil Warnock.

He’s playing up top for Reading but as he does so well with Canada comes into pockets during the build-up in the offensive half. The commentator just mentioned, “Hoilett keeps coming wide to create space for his Reading teammates through the middle”.

He was nicely a part of the build-up for Readings first goal. It was a great team goal.

As many have said, he’s got fantastic vision, technique and high football IQ.

Nowadays he’s often forgotten because of all of our exciting new talents but I believe he’s still got plenty in the tank and will be an important piece for us if you want to get to Qatar. Ultimately, he’s proven that with his recent Canadian performances, especially the Gold Cup.

Hoilett down with a bloody nose after Paddy McNair hits him with a flying elbow.

Fortunately, that’s all it looks like it is. He was down for a while and was worried that he may have gotten a concussion.

Got to love the Championship. It’s still good quality and truly feels like vintage English football.

I watch lots of the Championship being a QPR fan, some say it is the most competitive league in football and I tend to agree, from top to bottom anyone can win on the day! With 24 teams you see a wide variety of styles, there are many big clubs trying to get back up and modest clubs over achieving as well as some teams just trying to hang on! It gets really interesting as the season progresses and virtually every match played has an influence on promotion or relegation, I would like to see more Canadians in they league!

I can say that the Spanish 2nd division is the same, everything you mention goes. It's tough as hell and no team ever looks like a dominant side like you see with the top flights. 2nd tier strips it away from them, even if they have gloried histories or have won European trophies. Budgets even mean less than they do in top flight, so having a big stadium or more sponsors means less.

I'd even argue, as Spanish 2nd is smaller, it is more competitive; there are less irrelevant matches. And the table is historically even tighter than Championship, where the mid-table spread by February is such that there are teams out of the picture, wallowing in the middle or on relegation track. I say this on the basis of looking at tables in recent years.

A team in a town where I work outside Barcelona, called Sabadell, promoted last year to 2nd, spent a year struggling with no fans, and relegated. A beautiful hard-fought seasonthat we could not go watch, terrible thing really.

Brings back great memories of watching Sabadell vs Barcelona B, when I went to see Ballou play a few years back.

Had a beer at the bar across the street with all the Sabadell fans before the match. I’ll never forget the away fans (Barcelona B fans) get escorted into the stadium by security. Lots of young hooligan-types that looked really rough (I suppose that’s the look they were going for; lots of black eyes and aggressive stares).

I was surprised to see Sabadell get promoted tbh. They seemed liked a very modest team.

Nice to seem him playing regularly. Reading have been pretty good lately unfortunately they are about to get a 6 to 9 point deduction which will really hurt their promotion push.

hopefully Junior does the right thing and gets vaccinated soon otherwise he won’t be able to play in any red list country (Costa Rica and Panama are currently on the list).

Pretty sure it doesn't matters whether you are vaccinated for red list countries. He can play he just can't  play for his club for ten days after he gets back.

"If you’ve been in a red list country in the 10 days before you arrive in England, once you arrive you must:

- quarantine for 10 full days in a managed quarantine hotel (the day you arrive in England is day 0)

- take a coronavirus (COVID-19) test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 of quarantining – these are included in your hotel package

You must follow these rules even if you’ve been fully vaccinated"

They changed these rules last week for footballers. You don’t need to quarantine anymore if you’re fully vaccinated

I was a bit suspect about him prior to the Gold Cup. But he still has it and is a great addition to our side. He just makes us such a better side with his skill, awareness and effort.  It’s funny as perhaps he doesn’t have the top end pace of a Buchanan or so that prevents him from being a premier league player anymore but at the Concacaf level he is special.
