jimstam 0
Canada is set to "achieve" its worst ever FIFA ranking ever, 104th (103rd in March 2007 was old low). Hope the little islands we get chosen for next week @ wcq draw for Wcq next fall will give the team a chance to become a team finally & improve its fifa ranking.
ThiKu 94
Rankings don't have any impact on current WCQ. The only way this affects us is for our lads getting work permits in Europe/UK potentially. We do well in this WCQ, GC and some friendlies and we're back in top 50-60.
jimstam 0
with ourluck we get Guatemala in 1st round ,then mexico & costa rica. in next round...or we finally get lucky for once and get antigua, cayman & bahamas in next round (good fortraveling to, eh?) and then honduras & cuba in following round, and some teams get eliminated along the way and we finish 3rd in cocncacaf wcq or 4th & play either new zealand or uzbekistan in playoffs to go to world cup 2014. TFC07 59
The ranking pretty much sums how state of Canadian soccer is right now. Hopefully a good run in WCQ and women team qualify for Olympics get us over the hump.
theaub 46
I know for England you need to average in the top 70 of the rankings over a two year stretch for the 75% rule to apply

Yes & no they dont because march 2011 seedings were used for concacaf wcq draw (cuba was 6th in conc. at time & got. bye unlike canada). all others except conmebol will use july 2011 rankings for seedings.. For details per confederation, go to http://www.football-rankings.info/. .. This guy is so thorough he even corrects fifa computer.. see his july 2011 list before fifa issues theirs. redhat 15
What if were ranked 110? Or 80? Or 99? Would we be any more or less happier? The point is, we should never be satisfied with any ranking and ALWAYS try to improve and make it to the World Cup. We need more friendlies and prepare for WCQ now. We need, we need, we need ... Imagine being ranked as low as this AND still making the Hex.
Alex 892
put it into perspective. The Bahamas beat Turks & Caicos twice and jumped up 40 some odd spots.... US Virgin Islands have THREE EVER wins and jumped up the same by beating the juggernaught British Virgin Islands. So you can never put stock in these rankings, unfortunately they determine wcq draws. We'll see what happens to our ranking when we get 6 games against teams similar to the ones Ive just mentioned.

Guest Ed
The absurdity of the rankings method is exposed here. Does anyone think that Cuba should be ranked ahead of us. Their Gold Cup performance was off-the-charts bad but we unfortunately didn't get Cuba (or Grenada, equally bad) in our group draw. And we are just one spot (and not many FIFA points) ahead of Antigua. Where the h* is Antigua??
gigi riva 258
FIFA the organisation is a Joke just like there ranking system is. How can England be ranked 5 while in there last game they barely got a point against the Swiss. Panama who are really improving even dropped in the rankings, While Cuba is ranked ahead of us.
