The CSA's nepotism towards the TFC. [R - Final Second Leg]

Recommended Posts

Why does the CSA so blantantly favour the Toronto FC? Beg to differ? Then please explain the following:

1) For the current 4-team Nutrilite championship the CSA seeded the TFC first. What was that based on, performance or preferance? If it was the former, what matches were used to determine this and how far back did these go? Were the Montreal Impact games in their run to the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final included. Were all of the previous Nutrilite Championship matches included? Were MLS losses assigned a greater value than USL victories? If it was preferance please explain. Was that because keeping a larger percentage of the population happy obviously guaranteeing the CSA more support. Is that "Fair Play?"

Rankings are so crucial to success. Just look at how the Netherlands benefitted from one higher placing in the FIFA rankings. The draw for European qualifying for the 2010 World Cup was held on November 25, 2007. For days earlier, Croatia had defeated England by 3 goals to 2 at Wembley. This caused England to fall one spot in the FIFA rankings. The Dutch suddenly found themselves elevated to being the 9th European country on FIFA's list and because there were 9 European groups for World Cup qualifying, they became one of the 9 seeded countries and thus avoided have to play against Germany, France, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Croatia and the Czech Rep. The rest is history, as we all know how the Netherlands faired.

2) Back to the CSA's nepotism. Every bit of controvery seems to favour the TFC. By being seeded first the TFC not only avoided having to play the Whitescaps in the first round, but they also get to play a club they can easily defeat away with their second-string players, while hoping the Impact might upset the Whitecaps. Furthermore, the CSA's nepotism also allows the TFC to "pick" playing their home match in the final, which was obviously the second match of the home-and home series.

The cancelling of this second match in Toronto also favoured the TFC , who were trailing 1-0 at the time the match was stopped. If they had played another 10 minutes it would have been an official result, but see that this was not going happen the match was stopped.

3) A couple of years back in the Nutrilite championship, the CSA allowed the Montreal Impact to field their reserves against the TFC without impunity. This allowed the TFC to score the most lob-sided victory in the history of this tournament and clinch the Canadian championship.

I could go on, but these three instances are enough evidence to support the point I'm trying to make, don't you think Mont Pete?

This has to be the single worst post I have ever read on here, even setting aside the dozens of [sic] that should be included. (1) has been well explained on here and is not in any way sinister. (2) is full of incorrect things like

If they had played another 10 minutes it would have been an official result...
and (3) suggests...what exactly? That the CSA should have dictated the lineup that IMFC must use? It was an unfortunate (to be generous) decision by IMFC to field that team, but it is a decision that is theirs alone. Sanctions would be appropriate if the players on the field actively attempted to lose (bringing the game into disrepute), but that was not the case.

Time to give it a rest Robert. I'm a die hard Vancouver supporter and I don't believe that the CSA favours TFC (Unless they've secretly learned how to control the weather)!

I'm even not sure the CSA is capable of the planning and foresight needed to effectively give an advantage to one team over another...but that's for a different thread.

I find it funny that someone could claim the CSA favours TFC, when they pretty much bent over for the Whitecaps and allowed such a low quota of Canadian players in MLS. And if you don't think the Whitecaps weren't the driving force in that move you are fooling yourself.

TFC came first in the 2010 Voyageur's Cup, genius. Vancouver were 2nd, and Montréal were third. Edmonton, as the newcomers, were 4th.

So: 1st (that's Toronto, in case this has become too difficult for you) plays against 4th (Edmonton, it's a city, not a person who conspires against you)

Meanwhile: 2nd (Vancouver, sound it out, Van-COO-verrrrr) plays against 3rd (Montréal, it's a city in eastern Canada, in a magical land called "Québec", they speak French there :D)

I'm sure that in some convoluted way you think this is a relevant story, so I'm just going to spoil it for you now; it's not.

Again, TFC got to pick the match order because they came 1st in 2010, which is entirely legitimate. Also, if the Impact are in NASL, and might upset the Whitecaps, an MLS side, why couldn't FCE have possibly been capable of the same with TFC?

"Nepotism" ...you keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means.

Nepotism - noun - patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics: "She was accused of nepotism when she made her nephew an officer of the firm."

3) A couple of years back in the Nutrilite championship, the CSA allowed the Montreal Impact to field their reserves against the TFC without impunity. This allowed the TFC to score the most lob-sided victory in the history of this tournament and clinch the Canadian championship.

...and in 2010 the CSA "allowed" both TFC and Whitecaps to field their reserves in the final match, because Toronto had already clinched the trophy and Vancouver weren't mathematically able to win...kinda like Montréal in 2009.

To conclude; you're the only person still arguing this, and you were wrong from the start. Let it go.

"TFC came first in the 2010 Voyageur's Cup, genius. Vancouver were 2nd, and Montréal were third. Edmonton, as the newcomers, were 4th."

Are you speaking on behalf of the CSA here, or is this imformation available for any one to view somewhere on the CSA's webpage? Hopefully you are representing the CSA because that means that the Whitecaps will have to be seeded #1 next year if they beat the TFC next week. If your just giving us your opinion then all of this is just a load of crap.

"So: 1st (that's Toronto, in case this has become too difficult for you) plays against 4th (Edmonton, it's a city, not a person who conspires against you)

Meanwhile: 2nd (Vancouver, sound it out, Van-COO-verrrrr) plays against 3rd (Montréal, it's a city in eastern Canada, in a magical land called "Québec", they speak French there :D)"

Why is there a need to seed clubs in a four-team tournament? Is the TFC so scared of the Whitecaps that they need to be seperated in the first round? Thanks for sounding it out for me, I would have never guessed that one needs to roll the final "r" like that, which is pretty easy to do if your Dutch.

"I'm sure that in some convoluted way you think this is a relevant story, so I'm just going to spoil it for you now; it's not."

To be continued at an early date. Stay tuned.

"Again, TFC got to pick the match order because they came 1st in 2010, which is entirely legitimate. Also, if the Impact are in NASL, and might upset the Whitecaps, an MLS side, why couldn't FCE have possibly been capable of the same with TFC?"

Because like most people who understand the game, there is a considerable difference in experience between the three established pro clubs in Canada and the FCE.

"What "Nepotism" ...you keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means." Nepotism - noun - patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics: "She was accused of nepotism when she made her nephew an officer of the firm."

It comes from the italian "nepoto," which means nephew and implies a favouritism given to family members. So I'm implying that the CSA and the TFC are tight, real tight.

"....and in 2010 the CSA "allowed" both TFC and Whitecaps to field their reserves in the final match, because Toronto had already clinched the trophy and Vancouver weren't mathematically able to win...kinda like Montréal in 2009."

I guess two wrongs must make a right in the world of the CSA

"To conclude; you're the only person still arguing this, and you were wrong from the start."

And I conclude that it will be a nepotistic decision by the referee , or one of the linesmen that will decide the outcome of the Nutrilite Championship. It's the only way the TFC can win!

It's quite the opposite. There's been no shortage of tension between the two parties mainly due to international call-ups and the Morgan/Henry U20 debacle back in March.

Grizz, Soju and ThiKu, awesome...

Also isn't "TFC" not "the TFC". The FC doesn't actually stand for "Football Club" as MLSE have never referred to them as anything except Toronto FC.

Your correct ...but the actual meaning of FC is detailed in the MLSE corporate filings of the profit and loss statements, it stands for Free Cash.... as in money in the bank freely available to be spent.

When the bean counters at MLSE hired on a niece of the CSA brass she used her deep knowledge gained at the family table of the Free Cash avaialbe to a soccer club that could enhance MLSE revenues, a little favoratism and Kevans opps I meant to say Bob's.. your uncle TFC have stada built with public money a sweet entry to MLS.

So TFC = Toronto Free Cash... collected from the diehards.

( yes folks its all sarcasm so dont go trying to link things too much )

First off, that dino-jet pic fecking rules.

Second, I would just point out that the seeding that was used did in fact result in the intended outcome of having the highest quality final, if quality is based solely on league membership. With no disrespect intended to the Impact, the fact is that TFC and VWC are the only teams in out top tier league at this point. If this is taken as an indicator of quality (which it usually is), then the seeding allowed these two teams to meet in the final. No tin foil hat required.
