PJSweet
After paying a ticket and watching this club play against Seattle Sounders, I'm now convinced that this club is nothing but crap. The departure of Dwayne Derosario has hit this team real bad. To this day, they still haven't found a player of his caliber to replace him. This club needs a serious trade now. Bully
Well they are not getting Dero back. Too bad they released that kid Aleman. IMO (take it for what it is, I do not know much), they should go after Will Johnson and a good Canadian player. Maybe Iain Hume haha.
Prof
Watch the games and see that the soccer they are playing is better than in the past. Dero put himself before the team, that is why he is gone. DeKlerk and Winter know what there are doing. Be patient. Don't get caught up in the media's constant ripping of TFC, but being the eternal optimists for the Jays, Leafs, Argos, Raptors. TFC will continue to improve under Winter.

It's been a couple of months...why do we even need to wait that long? Why wouldn't the club have a replacement in place before trading DeRo? It's as if they wrote this year off before it even started.
Richard
I suspect DeRo's attitude in the locker room was becoming damaging and they cut their losses by trading him when they did.
BringBackTheBlizzard
Rumour elsewhere is that the breaking point was an incident in Charleston where he was perceived to have turned up late for a bus to a practice session along with JDG as a deliberate snub to Winter, who had just been preaching the need for greater team discipline. Fits with Santos being made captain.
jpg75
Oh i'm sure there are legit reasons for getting rid of DeRo, but why not ship him out when you have a back up plan? Between the games in Charleston and his trade there must have been atleast 3 or 4 weeks right? TFC must have already been looking around with the amount of cap space at their disposable... narduch
In the end all De Rosario wanted was to have his last couple of years guaranteed on his contract. I still believe the relationship could have been salvaged if the TFC management really wanted it to. And the team suffers today for it. De Rosario is as close to guaranteed performance that you can get in MLS. He is even better than getting a foriegn DP because there is no risk of wondering if the guy will be a Hassli or a Denilson. You pretty much know what you are getting. And putting all other issues aside, the guy at least leaves it all on the pitch when he plays. The same can't be said for the current crop of players on TFC. Who often seem heartless.

He made a lot of public appearances, played his heart out for the team, and was always repping the fans. He was our top guy, and management really threw him under the bus. El Hombre
In the end all De Rosario wanted was to have his last couple of years guaranteed on his contract. Sure, that's all he wanted right now. Of course, two years ago all he wanted was a $400K salary which he happily signed his name to. Who knows what demands he'd have further down the road. It's foolish to think that in 6 months time or a year he wouldn't make more demands, particularly if he is continually placated. Forgive a hockey analogy but this whole thing reminded me of Alexei Yashin. Not saying there are direct parallels but there are similarities.
