I strongly encourage people to bring down drums and whatnot for the game. From what I hear (I live in Detroit), security has been directed to only ban vuvuzelas and flares / explosives. You might want to get in touch with Ford Field, or at least get in early, to make sure you don't have any problems.

Interesting, I thought you were an American Outlaw from Mississauga...on the Vs board. Hedging bets?

Tryin to help a Voyager get their drum into Ford Field tomorrow. Not trolling ;)

So I just gave Ford Field a call and they said that the list of prohibited items is the same as what it is for Lions games. The lady said she's had a lot of calls about horns, etc and there was a bit on the news about what is and isn't allowed. Doesn't seem like a drum is worth the risk... Gonna be the first game it misses though, I'm sure it won't be too happy about being left behind.

if you want, you can bring the drum down and i can store it in my car if you can't get it in. as Regina pointed out, I'm also a member of AO Detroit, so worse comes to worst, I can get some American supporters to bring it in (I know we'll be bringing in drums so it wont be an issue IMO).

Well aren't you nice... Kinda takin the fun out of this whole "rivalry" thing aren't you? :) Pardon my apprehension, but I'm more used to getting bottles, beer and fight propositions thrown my way from other countries supporters rather than helpful offers to smuggle in tools to support the competition!

Bring the drum!

Grigorio: I'll vouch for Dichio TFC as I know him from one of the TFC supporters groups. I'm sure they have the same issues with opposing supporters (e.g. Hondurans) as we've had.

Having said that, I refuse to acknowledge his existence tomorrow until after the match. :-)

See you guys there tomorrow at Elwood or wherever the heck we are meeting before the game.

LOL the rivalry / thrown beer bottles / fighting is for the 90'. Before the game and after the game, we drink together. If it eases your apprehension, know that I'm a Canadian citizen :D

Anyhoo, I've been looking into your dilemma and a lot of the AO supporters are getting thrown off by the noisemakers policy as well. I would say bring your drum anyways and try to get it in - nothing ventured, nothing gained. And if you need a place to store it during the match, I'll be parked a couple blocks away from Ford Field.

Al's a good guy. I know I'm going to regret throwing a beer bottle at him right after I throw it.. I'll do my best to make sure its either Molson or Labatt, deal? :)

The supporter problem in the US is just as pronounced as it is Canada. I went to US-Brazil last year at the Meadowlands. 80,000 seat stadium sold out - 90-95% were Brazil supporters. So yeah, both countries are struggling to make it work.

Another piece of Gold Cup 2000 "porn" to get the crew excited: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/jasondevos/2011/06/gold-cup-memories-still-fresh.html

In fact, according to the tournament media guide, we shouldn't even have been there.

According to the guide, Canada would be lucky to score a goal in the Gold Cup, let alone win a game. Before our opening game, I read what had been written about my team, and then promptly threw the media guide in the bin in disgust.

Great article, and I find myself recalling JdV Tweeted a while ago: When things like this happen, I remember the look on Jack Warner's face when he handed us the Gold Cup in 2000..... Warner was furious that we managed to win a tournament and T&T didn't. Classic.

Getting really pumped up for this game. I seriously think we have a chance to take something off of them. As long as the midfield doesn't lose its shape for 20 minutes at the start of the second half, like it tends to do in just about every game, I feel good.

Walter Lopez from Guatemala will be the ref - anyone know him? He's going to be the ref in our game against Panama as well...

I'm surprised that's even allowed... usually you'd avoid using the same ref more than once in close succession to prevent any animosity. Hopefully we'll be on our best behavior versus the US...

De Guzman apparently out injured for the US game. Not too upset considering he wouldn't have been in my starting XI, but hopefully its only this one game.

Put a fork in him, De Guzman is done. Having said that with De Guzman out I don't think we can afford to start both Dunfield and Johnson as it would be ideal to have one on the bench... Dunfield should start on the bench imo, play Johnson and Hutchinson in the middle, DeRo in front of them, Jackson on the right, Simpson on the left and that magical man Ali G up front

I'd go with the same starting front 6 except with Friend instead of Gerba....
