TFCRegina
Teal Bunbury, greatest fake American never to make the US Gold Cup team or greatest traitor Canadian never to make the US Gold Cup team?
CanadianSoccerFan
The US fans were talking about how the roster announcement was delayed today due to a last minute change. Considering KC had already announced Bunbury was called up, he must've been the last minute change.

Tuscan
I'm a Beijing Guo An season ticket holder, so get to see Martinez tearing around pretty often. He's a fan fave and standout midfielder - quick, wins balls, scraps, scores the odd goal - but that's against really weak competition. Our current midfield should contain him pretty easily, fingers crossed Well, he just tends to score penalties really... I hurt on the inside right now
ThiKu
Adu ahead of Bunbury? That seems odd - BUT apparently he has played well in Turkish 2nd, which I'd suspect is a HIGH technical standard. But that's a guess. Love that Bunbury was dropped!

jpg75
Won't be seeing Bobby Zamora on the T&T roster: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/922832/fulham-striker-bobby-zamora-earns-england-recall-?cc=5901 This is great news, if he can get into the game against Switzerland he'll be cap-tied to England. Even if he doesn't, he's looking less and less likely to settle...he wants to play for England.

I dont think any Warrior fan really cares bout Zamora he never really wanted to play for us anyway, + hes 30. The bigger news is that James Vaughan was left off the England Squad (U-21) he has expressed an interest in playing for us in the past and is only 22 , so hopefully this latest set back will lead him to "settle"

redhat
Great to see all teams bring in their "A" squads to this tournament. Remember last Gold Cup 2009 when many countries like Honduras brought a mainly domestic squad? This is going to be a great test for our WCQ preparations. CanadianSoccerFan
I don't know what to expect from Guadeloupe but they certainly can't be push overs. All but 6 of their 23 man roster are european pros. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_CONCACAF_Gold_Cup_squads#.C2.A0Guadeloupe

Looking specifically at the defence, he has old standbys Bocanegra and Cherundolo, but also veterans who have been camped on their respective team benches (Onyewu and Bornstein). One impressive youngster who didn't get the call was Nuremberg right fullback/wingback Chandler, but it looks like he might possibly have bigger fish to fry: http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/chandlers-gold-cup-absence-raises-concerns/
