Good stuff, both in the article and what he has to say. I hope he plays for the Canadian nats some day too and the Canadian Olympic team while we're at it. Actually, anyone know if he turned 18 already this year and is therefore eligible for the next U20 team, since he (bizarrely) wasn't picked for this year's?

He's born in 1993 so he should be eligible for the next U20's.

But I don't get the part in the article that stays that he took part in the U20. And, that he played for the U18 (?) in Costa rica. There is no such thing as a U18 side and when did our youth side play a game(s) in costa rica recently. The writer probably got mixed up with the u 17 WCQ but he wasn't on that team and it wasnt played in Costa Rica.

To my knowledge, he has never been capped at the youth level for Canada. I don't know why.

There was an U18 side sent to Costa Rica in January, they played 2 games against the Costa Rican U18's and lost the first one. I tried find info. on the second game, but couldn't find anything.

The second article states they drew the second match 1-1.

So I take it that the 93's are all still eligible for 2013. that might explain why the last U20 didn't have the name recognition that I thought it would. Still though, you gotta think that some of these kids ( even as under-agers), could have made a mark on the recent u20 side. A side that, in retrospect, didn't look all that gifted when it comes to natural talent.

From what I have seen so far, there's lots of upside on display. Keep working hard and stay healthy, Oscar!

He was called up For the Under 20 in Florida for a couple of friendlies before the start of the season but was never really given much of an opportunity, I guess this is how we protect our young player from them going some where else. Owen **********, Jonathan De Guzman are good examples of that

Two pretty different examples no?

Based on his early play for Toronto FC, I have no doubt that Oscar will be given plenty of opportunities to show what he can do for the national team.

You sir, are assuming this has something to do with logic or making sense.

Just more fuel to burn down those NTC's and jettison the amateurs involved in running then. Let the pro teams develop the youth and the U17's and U20's picked from their academies (or Europe for the special ones).
