BringBackTheBlizzard
Teams like Sudbury Croatia Adria and Tillsonburg seem to have done very well for themselves in terms of byes to the later rounds. Suspect that will raise a few eyebrows but good to see it isn't just the OSL teams that are getting that sort of treatment these days.
sundog
the only reason those teams get a bye to the further rounds is because of how the OC bracket is setup. each region must be represented in a certain round, thats why sudbury croatia gets to start in the 3rd round. for a couple years thunder bay was entering a team and they would also get to start the tournament in the 3rd round. it has nothing to do with the strength of the team. coppercanuck
That is exactly what is aggravating about this cup. 4 teams from Ottawa are bunched while I count 5 teams from London scattered over 3/4 of the bracket. 53 teams scattered across a bracket that can hold 128 teams ... "come on man". I won't pretend to understand all the regulations on this one but you can shrink this one down by one date, easy. In that bottom QF bracket you've got Sudbury, Scarorough, Kitchener, Toronto x2, Hamilton x 2, Caledon, Tillsonburg, Sarnia and Windsor. If it is to be based on geography, look at a map. If it is about balance, don't put all 4 Ottawa team in the same corner of the bracket. How would these QF matches look? AEK London v. Cambridge Supersonics; London/St. Thomas Croatia v. Waterloo Sonny's; London Marconi v. Cambridge Oriental; Kitchener Hrvat v. Caledon. Could happen.
OSAone
u must be from southwestern ontario judging by ur picks lol. eventhough, anything can happen in ont cup, i cant remember the last time less than 3 or 4 osl prov teams were in the 1/8 finals. with that being said, ill take a stab at some predictions as well - 1/8 finals Ottawa Royals vs Scarb Ulster Thistle Cro Windsor vs Woodbridge Azzurri Woodbridge Strikers vs Toronto Peniche Scarb GS Utd vs Ham Serbs
Vic
It's nice there's a team from Northern Ontario and Sudbury or the Sault, but if anyone should be seeded it's the previous champion. Otherwise it's a farce. A farce is defined as: "A light dramatic work in which highly improbable plot situations, exaggerated characters, and often slapstick elements are used for humorous effect." I would say that's the end result.
