jpoma
I recently caught the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary called The Two Escobars on TSN2. It talks about the drug lord Pablo, Columbian defender Andres, and the rise and fall of Columbian soccer. It's a great documentary and I highly recommend it. Look out for it on the TSN channels. CanadianSoccerFan
Even soccer hater Bob McCown said it was one of his two favourite 30 for 30 docs (the other being the Marcus Dupree story)
jpoma
Even soccer hater Bob McCown said it was one of his two favourite 30 for 30 docs (the other being the Marcus Dupree story) Although McCown is a curmudgeon at times, he is also a smart guy, and he understands the impact of what happened there. I saw some of the others, and while they're good (quality wise etc), nothing beats this one, simply based on the sheer influence on society, both positive and negative, of this story. "Narco-Soccer" ... is there a term that can better describe Columbia in the early 90s?
DJones
An excellent documentary. One of my favourites and gives us a chance to see the other side of the sport that we love so much. My other favourite 30 for 30 is 'Once Brothers'. Here's a cool little short youtube movie I just came across...
foreverthursday
I watched the Two Escobars with my wife and it was horribly violent. It was extremely compelling and heavy. It reminded me of watching movies like City of God and Welcome to Sarajevo.
