Hi all!

This can be used for Capital City FC fans to talk about everything to do with the team! Most importantly now, building a team!

They have made their first signing with the Brazilian player from USSF div 2 - apparently a very good player, will be a good threat up front.

The Coach was in Ottawa this weekend, and had a look at a few local players, and the big open tryout is on the 26th. Hopefully local boys like Kenny Caceros, Julien Edwards, Edgar Soglo, Adrian Leroy, Ladi Bushiri, Paul Kihara all come out! Sabra as well, an outstanding goalkeeper.

I am really hoping for a good amount of local talent, as a family pack season ticket holder, I am excited to be able to support a "pro" team in Ottawa, and see it from the ground up!

I've been waiting for pro soccer in Ottawa for a while and it's great to see it finally here.

I hope they start signing players with some experience playing pro. I'd love to see locals playing too, but I'd like to see some balance to it.

Either way, I'm gonna by season tickets. It'll be difficult to be competitive this season but I as well am looking forward to seeing a team be built from scratch.

I dropped by the tryouts this morning over 40 players attending. The group was divided into 4 teams, teams scrimagged twice for 20 minutes each. Play was surprisingly positive considering that many of these players haven't played together. Ball was played mostly on the ground. I was really impressed with #46 (or #26 forget now which # he was wearing) on Blue, he stood out in all aspects of play. Good on the ball, good read on the game, quality tackles, was the focal point in the building of the attack. Finishing around the net seemed to be the biggest fault for all 4 teams.

I wish you had a name! :) Glad to hear so many went out to the open trials... I heard the coach did the same thing, a type of combine in the States as well last week. And will do another before only extending the invite to camp to the standouts. I know CC's affiliate OSU have a very tight relationship with a Team in Dallas, TX, so there could be a big pull of players from there.

I am getting excited at the prospect of a good team!

I agree with you about this player I also dropped by and was able to see this player he is a really solid player and seems like he would a good signing. I also dropped by on the last day of trials and I saw a young man in defense who I thought was a really good player I believe he was wearing #3 on Red, He looks good in the air, quick, reads the game well, is a confident lad and looks like a leader what I like about him is he looks not older than 17 or 18 and he holds own against the likes of Paul Kihara, Edgar Soglo etc. I believe there were some good players at the trials ans hopefully the coach will recognize this and not crown the squad with players outside Ottawa.

CCFC!

Yeah I agree - I know of someone who sent an email as well and haven't heard back regarding the supporters club. That would be something that would be somewhat important no? :)

It all started so well, with a great site, lot of promise.. Very little activity since for fans.. I am a season ticket holder, and I also subscribed to the newsletter, and even when the first signing happened nothing came to my email. And I know for a fact that there have been 4 Ottawa local signings already, and nothing on the site at all.

An active, up to date website is all the fans have really, so it would be nice if it were up to date, and active, and supporter friendly!

No! I do not have any affiliation with CCFC, I am just a very involved fan. I have been to all the tryouts so far met and spoke to some players and the coach also that is why I am aware of how things are right now. (Lovethegame!) I agree with you but as you know this project was somewhat last minute so the club is under a lot of pressure trying to deliver so things are here and there regarding the website, fan club, news etc.

I have heard of this rumor also but I am not sure who the signings are. As I said earlier I had the opportunity of meeting and seeing some of the CCFC trialist play and I know by name now about 5 Ottawa players who are more than deservid of a spot on the roster.

Yes, I agree completely that they are under pressure to put everything together quickly etc... I respect that. But it doesn't take much, to put up an article announcing signings, and getting a few quotes from the guys them have signed..

Surely they have people in place to take care of this stuff. I am sick of seeing Sullivan Silva on the site! lol

Well I understand completely where you are coming from because with myself being a fan of CCFC and Ottawa soccer in general I like to be made aware of all that is going as I always try to be involved in any way possible hopefully soon someone at CCFC will get on top of this for us fans. Lol! I couldn't agree with more about this Sullivan lad.

You got that list spot on I have to stay but I would also add three YOUNG local lads who I have been very impressed with from the first trial.

Odaine Démar (Defender), Federico Arenas (Winger) & Karl-Lister Gouabe (Goalkeeper).

They are all local boys but from what I have gathered two are well travelved and have built up names for themselves abroad.

Démar (JAM) I believe has played in Jamaica, England and has short stints in Germany as well he is a part of his country's national player pool. Arenas (COL) spent a year over in Argentina with Boca Juniors I believe and did very good, before that he played for FC Outaouais in Gatineau and was an impact player. Gouabe (CMR) is a house-hold name in Ottawa he has been with the Fury and FC Outaouais for most career but any who knows him will agree when I say he is probably the best GK for his age in this COUNTRY!...

Yes Leroy would be a great one but is away.

I strongy agree but I think most of these lads are eitherat school or on trial else where.

Oh cool. I was just gonna ask how ticket sales are going. I've talked to a few friends who play and are huge fans of Canadian soccer but who haven't heard about CCFC yet, maybe the club should ramp up the marketing.

Will is back from Edmonton with no contract.. I don't know what his plans are, but I do know he was at the trial on Saturday.. I think he would do really well in the CSL.. Pavel Cancura, Abe Osman, Kwami etc all have jobs in Ottawa working in soccer, and would be too hard to find the time to play in the CSL I would imagine..

Janson Blake and Justin Dasah would also be great pick ups..

I am looking forward to it! I am just hoping it doesn't turn into the brazil show and out of town players everywhere.

There isn't as much buzz as i would have expected yet, that's for sure. Some of that is down to the club and their marketing efforts (limited web site updates etc), but some of it is down to the potential fans. Supporter's groups don't need to be organized by the team; in fact I think they are better to be independent.
