* - May have trouble getting a release

For the players I said may have trouble getting a release I think we would be okay for most except Straith, Lam and Cebara because they may be in their European club's first teams plans. A lot can change in a year so I guess Gage, Haber etc. could be too.

I don't know many NCAA players I just added guys who I know (some just from reviews) or have been involved in the past at youth levels so I'm not sure just let me know if I missed anyone or if you think someone should be added.

Looking at the team I think it's just as good if not better talent wise than the 2008 team, it may not have a Will Johnson but there are definitely some solid players there. Presumably we have more talent and depth at keeper than in 2008. Our defense depends a lot on Straith and Attakora as we have little to no depth after them. Luckily in 2008 we had two strong centre backs and a pretty good right back in Nik Ledgerwood. This time around will we be lucky enough to get Straith? If we are I'd say that 3/4 of our backline will be ??? - Straith - Attakora - Sidra. Assuming Eddy is actually what he made us believe in Venezuela but his club status sucks for us, if not him I think Saiko and Gage can both play right back.

Strikers are an improvement over 2008 which isn't saying anything at all when we had Ornoch playing out of position up there and a useless Lombardo and young Haber coming off the bench. If Teal wasn't a traitor SOB we would have him too but I see potential in Agourram and Haber.

Midfield looks good especially if Teibert, Lindsay and Davies are playing regularly in MLS (not possible for Lindsay this season obviously but hopefully he bounces back when recovered). Lam being loaned and starting for a Japanese team is promising and Im sure we could find another two midfielders to play in those central mid spots something like this:

-------------------Haber----------------------

Teibert-----------------------------Davies

---------------Lam----Gyorio---------------

-------------------Gage------------------------

Surprenant--Straith--Attakora------Sidra

-------------------Stillo-----------------------

Bench: Misiewcz, Ushedo, Morgan, Porter, Agourram, Saiko, Gaudet

I'm excited for this team and I think they can definitely do some damage in qualifying but so far we've had "experimental camps" I know its hard but we really should be having a camp where we can get as many of them together as possible, the past camps have featured very few guys who I would expect to be on a final roster but I know its preseason so its tough.

Flo Liu, a left back from Alabama-Birmingham. Well, not anymore because he's transferring to UConn, going to a top 5 team will hopefully help his stock as I would like to see him have a go since LB is usually a weak area for almost every team. Michael Nonni from UCSB had a season plagued with injuries but when he finds his form he is dangerous. Ethan Finlay from Creighton is pretty big time and he has dual citizenship. Evan James from UNC Charlotte can be a solid bench player.

With the depth we have at forward and the system we have I'm not sure Evan James could make the squad but I looked up Ethan Finlay nice find I wonder if he'll play for Canada? Any info on that?

I looked into Finley last year after his name was brought up in another thread. His father played collegiate hockey for North Dakota (i think it was ND) and stayed in the States after meeting Ethan's mom. Believe they settled in Wisconsin, Ethan was a high school All-American before going to Creighton...tried to look up any old posts on this site and BigSoccer and couldn't find them. Did however see Rocket Robin's match report from last summer when Finley scored for his Chicago Fire Premier squad against the Lynx.

Something is screwed up there. I am sitting beside my boss who was on the Fighting Sioux team that won NCAA titles in 80 and 82, and he don't know no Brent Finlay!!! BTW, Dave Tippet was his centre and he evidently was some real hot soccer player in his teens but decided to go the hockey route.

No Brent Finlay...

Witness protection program? A lot of people do lie and think they can get away with it and its hilarious with information available, my coach when I was younger was talking to my dad about my brother and told him how he had played in Oshawa too back in the day... ya that was a lie.
