jpg75
1-0 Canada!!! Looks like #13, CB. Gasparotto i think? ****. I meant to edit my other post...sorry guys!
ThiKu
GOOOOAAALLLLL!!!! Good thing they made him put the ball back in the corner area! However, the quality play was by Petrasso. Excellent attacking play after the wonderful channel to channel pass by Aleman.
canucklefan
TFC is blessed to have two players like Aleman and Petrasso in its Academy. If they continue to develop as players I'd like to watch them with the first team in 2-3 years.
ThiKu
Minute 18 and not nearly enough possession. Need to hold on much longer. Typical counter-attacking. Love the play-by-play! "Jamaica must be the home team because they are the only one not to wear red yet." Hahaha.
Lord Bob
Goal aside (fine goal it was), Canada's not quite as composed or efficient as they were against Trinidad and Tobago. Of course, Panama hasn't been making it too hard for us in the final third either.
BuzzAndSting
Why is there a helicopter landing at the field in the middle of the game? edit: It's the president of the JFF.
ThiKu
Typical kids on the field. Receive, turn, run. From the forwards. Our right mid has been very disappointing. Surprised if he lasts past 45th.
jpg75
Whoa, almost! Chip by Alderson over the Panamanian defence to Aleman almost nets a goal. Goalie gets his hands on it and out for a corner. A collection of passes/deflections pinball to Jalali who has his shot blocked from 5 yards in front of goal! Crepeau off his line to smother a dangerous through ball! Action is picking up now...
Oranje
should be 2-0 after that beautiful pass from Alderson
Lord Bob
Panama and Canada trade good chances that go wanting. Panama and Canada's defenses are both stifling most of the real good chances. Canada's DF is doing a bit of a better job, but then Panama's MF is doing more to control the transition. It's an even game but I think Canada still has an element of control. jpg75
I think there's too much seperation between our attacking mids and d-mids. We're relying on longer passes and with this bumpy ground they're not as accurate as they should be. Also, the attacking players are trying to get too fancy with one touch passes...and they don't always have the support they need either.
ThiKu
I am quite impressed with the little left back. Looks composed and willing to get forward. BUT, you guys are right. The field is very stretched and as a result we are lacking long periods of possession.
Keegan
We aren't linking often from those long balls but when we do look out! We look dangerous on the attack and strong on defense despite not having as much possession still a winning formula.
Lord Bob
Panama has plenty of possession but has hardly looked like doing anything with it. Sean Fleming is the next Jose Mourinho?
canucklefan
I was taking a look at Canada's record in U17 WC matches.... 4 U17 WC appearances, 12 matches played, 12 losses. 1993 U17 WC has been our worst participation with 0 goals scored and 18 goals allowed. jpg75
2nd half about to start. I'm curious to see if ball control changes with the switch of ends. The end to the left strikes me as rather bumpy between the 20-40 yard area.
jpg75
Ugh. Not controlling passes, individual runs ending in turnovers, sloppy passes...this has not been a good start to the half. Corner Panama.
jpg75
Panama hits the post on a scorcher from 25 yards. It was #5, a CB with the shot.

Lord Bob
Canada is making the age-old mental mistakes of Canadian teams from years past: they're playing to the other team's tempo. Canada needs to start playing simple passes. Run the ball around their own third. Not kill time as such, but slow down the pace. Instead they're trying to stuff it back down Panama's throat, the problem being that Panama has much fresher legs and it's playing exactly the style Panama wants.
