Sam
tsn.ca has Noel Butler as a soccer blogger, but other than that every soccer article they run is from the CP or AP so all TSN has to do is come up with a headline. Yet rather than headlines related to what happened in the the game every headline they have is a freaking pun! I've yet to see a Montreal related headline on TSN that isn't about the team making or failing to make an impact. It's the same un-funny, un-clever pun every ****ing time! I know I shouldn't care about these stupid headlines... but it bugs me and I feel the need to rant.
Emlyn
yeah but all sports writing is like that. Every sport not just soccer! it is incredibly annoying actually.
Sam
^ You're right, but for soccer on TSN it just seems to be 10 times worse. I mean TSN uses "real" headlines for the most part on their front page.
Sam
As I say that the TSN headline is currently "A Reak Big Fish" in reference to the Fischer trade
kj52
UK Sun has to be the ultimate in a pun for every headline but at least they have some originality compared to TSN. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/

thescottc
We used to have a joke a paper I used to work at that when anyone lost they "came up short" and if they won they "came out on top" (apparently those were the only two clichés our sports writers could come up with). Which eventually led to the hilarious headline "Midget hockey players come up short."
Guest Ed
In light of Richard Hastings retirement announcement, this one from back in the day when ICT had a huge upset win over Celtic: "Super Caley Go Ballistic; Celtic are Atrocious"
