DJT
Guidelines for this thread In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for December 31, 2010 - January 6, 2011. If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster. If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here. Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread. gator
Some good news, Iain Hume has secured a permanent move to PNE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/preston/9330526.stm Even though Preston is involved in a relegation battle, Hume did really well there during his loan spell! I think it's good for him, and our MNT if he is getting quality playing time!
gator
In the English Championship today: Peters gets a start for Ipswich at Coventry, Edgar is on the bench for Burnley at home to Sheffield Utd., Jackson is on the bench as Norwich lead QPR 1-0 and Hume isn't in the side for Preston North End at home to Derby, possibly his transfer isn't complete! Happy New Years to all!

Scottie
Does anyone know what position Peters was playing in? It doesn't say how the players lined up on soccernet.
nolando
Does anyone know what position Peters was playing in? It doesn't say how the players lined up on soccernet. Gianni Zuiverloon got recalled early by WBA, so it looks like Jaime played RB in his place: "The recalled Jaime Peters and Carlos Edwards linked well down the right " http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/match-centre/Coventry-vs-Ipswich-article655623.html [url=http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/profile/?uAction=register]

nolando
Edgar came on the 90th minute against Sheffield. They must be showcasing him for a transfer or maybe a loan (snicker, groan)
gator
Today in the English Championship: Hume is back with Preston North End and starting as they visit Crystal Palace, Peters is back on the bench for Ipswich as they host Nottingham Forest, Edgar takes his usual place on the bench for Burnley at Reading and Jackson is on the bench for Norwich as they visit Middlesbrough! Toronto MB
I notice that an old Canadians abroad nemesis, Aaron Wilbraham, has joined Norwich on a permanent transfer as of January 1st. Wilbraham's good form did much to keep the deserving Ali Gerba out of the line-up during the duo's time at MK Dons. With the addition of yet another striker, this puts Holt, Hoolahan and Wilbraham ahead of our boy Jacko in the pecking order! Our England boys can't catch a break this year can they? I vote that Edgar and Simeon head up to join Humey at Preston now that Ferguson Sr. has recalled all of the United loanees. Maybe Stalteri can join them for a great Canadian escape in the championship? (Delusional laughing echoes throughout the Voyageurs forum...) Toronto MB
ENGLAND FINAL Typically bad day for our Canucks in the C'Ship. Peters on at the half, seemingly at RB. Ipswich lose 1-0 to Nottm. Forest. Hume starts as Preston lose 1-0 to fellow bottom dwellers Crystal Palace. Jacko on for the goal-scorer Holt in the 65th. Norwich draw 1-1 away to lowly Middlesborough. Edgar rides pine for the 90 as Burnley lose 2-1 to Reading.
gator
Jackson could really do his team and himself a big favour by scoring about now!
beachesl
Peters came on at 46' after Ipswich own goal at 45', and no scoring against Ipswich afterwards, so it was not that negative for him. Do not know how he actually played.
loyola
Jordan Santiago on the bench as Cardiff are leading Leeds United 1-0 in the first half. I wonder if he has signed an extension because his contract was running out in December I think.

Guest Ed
England 3pm ET Blackburn Rovers (Hoilett) v Liverpool FC http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=100197∂=sports Friendlies Cottbus (Straith) 1 - 1 Erfurt Manisaspor (Simpson) 1 - 4 Stuttgart PSV (Hutchinson) 2 - 1 Stormvogels/Telstar Adam Straith played the first half (0-1 scoreline) before basically the usual starting 11 took over for the 2nd half for Cottbus. Not known if Josh Simpson played for Mnisaspor in the loss to VfB Stuttgart, don't see him in the limited picture gallery of the game at the Stuttgart site. Smapti
Junior Hoilett starting as a right winger assisted on the 3rd goal. Highlight reel assist, hopefully helps him get more starts.
villus
Saw the Blackburn game, Hoilett looks good running at people, still needs to work on his passing and his movement off the ball but he has the raw talent to be a very productive and dangerous player. gator
Very good determination to set up the goal, the anouncer is pretty pissed with the defending! I hope my little bit of excitement about this guy isn't for nothing as he suits up for another country! I'll believe it when I see him capped for Canada, plays like that just catch the eye of England and you know if he's is eligible they will cap him if they can!
