Keegan
Rusty Teibert isn't on this roster, though (which is the first thing I noticed when I looked at it; guy was only fourth in U-20 Player of the Year voting on Monday). exactly why I pointed out it isn't a full roster, Russell gets a bit of hype around Niagara so I noticed that too
Ivan
^ Yikes, you guys are correct! Guess I am just used to see him on any youth roster that is announced!
jpg75
This is certainly not an experimental lineup, there are alot of players that would appear headed to be our starters on this roster and only a few players being called for the first time. TFCRegina
Looks more like a first team to me. It's probably one of the strongest squads we could have fielded.

Keegan
Here's our starting XI Stillo - Henry, Hart, Bassi, Morgan, Thompson, Gage, Cobby, Lindsay, Hoilett, Cousens. Anyone know whats up with Derrick Bassi? He's playing for UBC but you'd figure a player who was in Middlesbrough's academy would either go get a scholarship in the states or he would just sign for Vancouver res? TripleA
From SoccerByIves's twitter: "Update from U.S. Under-20's friendly vs. Canada- Soony Saad just scored from 20 yards out to make it 1-0 USA." Guess he's quicker than the CSA twitter.
Oranje
Update from the CSA twitter: Min 50 - USA scores its second goal, clear from USA end, mistake by CAN-GK leads to USA goal, it is CAN 0-2 USA
loyola
2-0 loss to the USA isn't so bad but I hope we get a result in the second game. According to Ives twitter, a USA player had a "bad PK" saved late in the game.

jpg75
Anyone know if this was a USA U20 A-squad? Pretty close to it: GOALKEEPERS: Zac MacMath (Maryland), Kevin Piedrahita (America de Cali) DEFENDERS: Gale Agbossoumonde (Estoril Praia), Greg Garza (Estoril Praia), Sebastien Ibeagha (Duke), Perry Kitchen (Akron), Eric Schoenle (West Virginia), Ben Sweat (South Florida), Zarek Valentin (Akron), Kory Veeder (Unattached) MIDFIELDERS: Steven Evans (Portland), Joshua Gatt (SC Rheindorf Altach), Joe Gyau (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim), Alex Molano (Dinamo Zagreb), Amobi Okugo (Philadelphia Union), Dillon Powers (Notre Dame), Kelyn Rowe (UCLA), Conor Shanosky (D.C. United) FORWARDS: Conor Doyle (Derby County), Dylan Mares (Louisville), Jack McInerney (Philadelphia Union), Adrian Ruelas (Celtic), Soony Saad (Michigan), Omar Salgado (Unattached)
Soccerpro
Anyone know if this was a USA U20 A-squad? It's my understanding that it wasn't.
masster
I look at this roster and I am just not that impressed. I know in the past we have been fooled by some of the big club teams that our youth players were associated with, but isn't that at least a sign of potential as opposed to guys in the CSL. With European based players in the past, I had never seen them play and I had hope that there was a diamond among them. With the North American guys on MLS teams, I have seen them play and I'm not that impressed.
jpg75
It's my understanding that it wasn't. Juan Agudelo is probably the only player they were missing that wasn't replaceable. Here's their Milk Cup roster: http://www.nimilkcup.org/?module=datalistdetail&itemid=1a2b6d7d-dfef-4dd7-ac3a-4adb3e558d27 Masster, i'm inclined to agree with you. There are some good players on this team, but also a lot of mediocre players and no one that really stands out as an elite offensive threat that is going to take a game over on his own. I would imagine the final qualifying roster would have their kids from Bayern Munich, West Ham, and Birmingham City. And that Agudelo guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_U-20_men's_national_soccer_team http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/11/evening-ticker-hurzeler-joins-usa-u20-squad-kandji-diagnoised-with-acl-tear-and-more.html

That German kid will help them, guess we'll see if he decides to switch. As for Will Packwood he might be a starter next cycle, but i doubt it this time around.
