nolando
"The best memory I have was the first game in my A-League career at Swangard Stadium," he said. "Just how passionate the fans are. They love soccer." He also has a connection to Canada. His grandparents were from Quebec -- the family name was originally Peloquin. "I found that out a little late," he said of his heritage. "If I had known, I probably would have tried to play for the Canadian national team." http://www2.canada.com/theprovince/news/sports/story.html?id=a5bb8c5c-6990-4f0e-b5cb-39e5037cc23e

TheKottonmouthed1555362307
So why doesn't he? Under FIFA rules he is still eligible for us This move to Vancouver very well might spark that debate in his own mind, and hopefully, as even at 35 he would be able to give us some quality caps. Quite happy he was picked up was questioning at first, but his career in the MLS speaks for itself. He seems geniunely stoked about coming into the Whitecaps fold. BringBackTheBlizzard
So why doesn't he? Under FIFA rules he is still eligible for us Don't have time to google for the relevant links but an issue that might be worth exploring on that is whether he actually held Canadian citizenship when he played for the United States earlier in his career. My impression based on stories in the British media is that you need to have been a dual citizen at the time of playing for the other country to be able to switch later. When it's a distant grandparent sort of connection citizenship often isn't automatic and is often only granted if lots of paperwork is filled out by a certain age. Not sure what Canada does on that but it's another thing to check.
