how bad was Gala i that he was a young guy just starting to play??

Couldn't get back into the squad when there were injury issues in the waning days of the Preki error..er..era and then lost his place to the younger Lindsay with Dasovic as coach. I wish him all the best wherever he plays next year.

Well his name will live on, he is the only Canadian to have ever scored against Real Madrid. Right?

He showed some flashes of potential, but overall, he is another sprinter with no ball skills.

I thought JDG's goal in La Liga was against Real Madrid? Thought I heard him say that in an interview.

I can't believe Garcia wasn't cut. Maybe his contract runs out at the end of the year?

Practically all of the released players were Preki's players. Not really a surprise to me since I didn't really see any upgrade, in the team's play, with their arrival.

The exception of course, is Gala. He has had a fair run for four years. He has some talent but unfortunately you dont notice him much on the pitch during a game. Thats not a good thing if you are an offensive player. Conversely, you look at a guy like Lindsay, who we have seen for only half a year (on and off), you always see something from him that catches your attention. In that short time, Lindsay may have created more scoring chances for himself (and others) in the few games we have seen of him, than Gala did in four years. And, Lindsay is approx 4 years younger.

I sort of get the feeling that they may try to resign Garcia for a much lower number. He seems like he could be an adequate backup, since he can play both fullback and centre-back, and potentially a leader as well. The main problem is his contract is too large, and he's not a starter anymore.

I hope for your sake not. Too old, too slow, tires and too mistake prone. You have players in your academy that I would rate better than Garcia. His time is up and it's time for TFC to get some serious scouting or try some of the academy at those positions. You just got Nathan Sturgis in a deal so time to move on.

How letting go of Saric is good thing I don't know? He hussled, played hard even when injured, was able to distribute the ball and had a relatively low salary. On the other hand why Nane and Ibrahim are still with the team is confusing. They should have been released as they have shown that they do not belong at this level of play.

I think all 3 of them should be gone tbh, how Nane even got games at this level is beyond me and idk what Ibby's deal is, all I can think is he has a case of Freddy Aduitis. I like all the releases, all good moves.

I don't have a problem with a hard, physical presence in the midfield (I have advocated for one with our MNT for a long time) but Saric didn't bring enough to the table in other areas of his game. As a central d-mid he was too slow in closing down opponents, resulting in his getting bypassed or being late in challenges, drawing fouls and eventually bookings. As for his distribution, too often he was a nonfactor in the passing game and when he did get the ball his distribution was pretty spotty. Add to this a guy on the wrong side of 30 with possibly chronic lower body injury concerns: I didn't see any upside. His best run with the team was on the left flank, but considering how mediocre the attacking wing play had been most of the year, that isn't saying much. He's gone through clubs at a Gerba-esque pace in the past decade, so TFC is just another one in his career globe trot. He could show up again in MLS, but I doubt it.

As for Sanyang and Nane, if they got jettisoned it wouldn't be the end of the world but at least they could win the ball and break plays legally better the Saric, who was brought in to be JDG's first choice mid partner in that department.

The upside of keeping Sangyang and Gomez around are that they are on a low salary and are young, and can hopefully be developed in the reserve league a bit. The same goes for Ibby if we can talk him down a bit on his contract. I believe he is out of contract, so if he wants too much he can walk just like Garcia.
